M3 coupe arrives on Tuesday
« on: June 14, 2008, 01:02:55 AM »

OK, so the dealer is giving me an M3 for a week.  It's got 300 miles on it is black graphite (no idea what that means, assume black) and has a redish interior.  I'll put my review up after two days of driving it.  It arrives on Tuesday.  I'm very very curious to know if I like this more than the IS-F.  Now if I can just get my hands on an R8.  Believe it or not I'm still having trouble finding someone to trade for a month for my GranTurismo.  Only found one guy willing to trade for a few weeks but the S. O. B. wanted my 250 GT California.  yeaaaaah no F'in way.  I wouldn't trade a Veyron for that.

There are two blacks for the M3 Jet Black (no explanation needed) and Jerez Black which is sort of a midnight blue/black.  (looks black at night, looks dark dark blue in direct sunlight).  Sparkling graphite is a eggplant grey color.  I assume you're getting one of those colors... so I just thought I'd pass that along.  I was on the M3 bandwagon a while... then jumped off, 70-75k is just too much IMO... If I could find last gen (E46) at a good price/condition I'd consider that.

Mostly because of all the hype surrounding the M3.  Everyone seems to be drooling over it (I'm not a fan to be honest) so I told the dealer to arrange one for me while they get the scratch from my uh; im not sure what it's called but the black spoiler lip thing way under the car in front of the car; fixed.  They said it would be a day and I said something along the lines of "ah screw you all, lemme take the M3 then for a week.  Hell, I'll probably get one for the wife".  Now I have no intention of getting an M3 for the wifey, I might as well buy a skateboard for the dog.  But these guys know I buy a ton of cars so it worked.
Oh, Happy Fathers Day fellas!!!  My wife managed to crap on me for the 3rd Fathers Day in a row already.  She actually yelled at me for not letting her take her car out and had to take mine.  Now I have to give her car back in 3 days and last week I asked her to be careful with it.  Then in 48 hours she has a swipe on the side, two door dings and a scratch on the bumper.  Of course, none of it her fault.  So, after 5 hours of detailing her car and compounding it (no "thank you" of course) I don't want it driven by ANYONE.  She doesn't seem to understand why.  Oh, and all that work was so she could get her new car but she is giving me crap for doing that work when I could be watching the kids.  Yeahhhh, I think I'm going to find an excuse to go to the "office" later and uh work (aka, US Open)

While I'm on the subject, has anyone ever noticed that nobody thinks they are a bad driver?  It's like nobody thinks they are stupid.  Look, there are certain things I do well and some I don't.  I don't do Yoga for example.  I dance very poorly.  Why can't people admit to themselves that they have bad spacial recognition and drive poorly.  Thus, they should at least try to drive more carefully.  Instead, they are text messaging while driving or on the phone or all over the road.  I've been in the car where my wife has literally driven OVER the curb while turning and not even notice it.  Yet if you say You aren't the best driver, she will respond "I park way better than you".  Yeah, cause you could care less if you hit the curb and scratch everything, you sure do!  OK, rant over!

HOORAY for the new rims.  Awesome by the way.  Well, bought the wifey a new Highlander (no more damn hybrids!).  I was going to go to Lexus this morning and just give them the keys but I happened to look at the contract for the lease.  So, I've had this car for 36 months and the "buyout" was $32,250.  Eh what do I care right?  Wrong.  I looked up some prices and a 2006 Lexus RX 400h with 12,200 miles on it is worth like $38k-41k.  Whoa, now wait a sec.  I could just flip this thing for $35k in like a day then?  Anyways, instead, I made a turn and went to the Toyota store and fought the good fight with another sales manager.  Armed with all kinds of numbers and residuals etc etc.  I ended up getting $35,500 for the RX400h and then just rolled it into the Highlander.  I pick it up in 2 hours.  Was a fun experience.  I was telling HIM what his numbers were before he could get them.  The guy says to me: "I've never quite had a customer like you before".  This was after I gave him what the end base number was going to be before his computer did.  Oh, he tried a few tricks.  Money factor he added 5 bips ("Bip what is that? Basis points, cmon man you know what a BIP is, and why is it you charging me 5 more than the official Toyota pricing is supposed to be?  Uh we are entitled to add it if we can.  Yeah? don't.") then he tried some documentation fee crap and "dealer prep" bs.  Heh, I get a sadistic joy out of pounding those guys, I don't know why.  Anyways, I ended up paying $1,000 UNDER invoice.

This cracked me up.  I have a couple rants about my wife and cars, but I don't want to jinx myself.
