Saw a 335is convertible...
« on: August 15, 2010, 09:41:51 PM »

Went by the BMW dealer a few days ago after close just to see if they had any actual vehicles finally (long story; they lost their franchise license for a while so didn't have ANY cars.... ), much to my surprise they had a white 335is convertible sitting outside, quietly hidden amongst the rest of the cars. The car looks good, but not hugely different than the standard 335i. This one looked like it was (almost) loaded minus a few ala-carte options (surprisingly it did have DCT). At any rate, the car came in at a scale-tipping $65,700+ MSRP. For $77,675 (MSRP) you can get a (practically) loaded M3 convertible w/ DCT. When you are spending that much money, why not go the extra mile and spend the extra $10K?

Just my $0.02

Insurance should be a non-issue at that price; as for lease requirements - "maybe"...

You don't think a 400+hp M3 falls into a different category?  I don't know personally.

Don't versions like the 335i have bigger rebates than an M3?

I'm not sure what you mean by just an extra 10K.  By that logic when would he stop?

I didn't get the Land Cruiser (+6k IIRC) and the LX570 (MSRP difference was about +16K) for similar reasons - when are yo going to stop if you go that road?  Maybe the potential buyer is coming from a lowly 3 series already (a fully loaded 328i?), and already spent the first extra 10K to get to the loaded 335i!   Cheesy

335is is also more practical and better DD, than M3
But honestly, it's worth getting regular 335i over 335is, unless you really need DCT

i wish... the porsche people have started sending me all sorts of mailers (not sure why) but I got some literature on the new Cayenne, and just a couple weeks ago the Panamera (starting at 75k).  I saved it for my wife and told her my birthday is in 3 weeks! Smiley
