drove a 08 M5 today.....
« on: July 15, 2008, 07:49:14 PM »

No not leaving my M.... yet....hehehehe, but had a chance to drive around for a bit in an 08 M5.... wow, was much smoother then I thought it would be, the owner made me press the M button (release of the 500hp) the entire drive... I agreed...hehehehe that was an instant boost... I know unfair from an M35 to an M5 but dayum.... the seats were damn comfortable, not what I expected, the trans was smooth, shifts were smooth, 2nd was not jerky at all, 3 gear had a wide range... steering wheel was damn nice, nice and phat (term used for Oz Grin)

brakes were solid, car was fun to drive, an easy daily driver type car.....

did I mention 500 hp stock....hehehehehe

Nice.. although who hands over the keys to their M5 to someone like you Tongue

My boss is looking at leasing a used M5. If so, that means I get to drive it! (probably)

So what you're saying is you thought it was going to suck? and it didn't?  Whats with the low expectations?  It is a $90k ride

I guess I misinterpreted... these statements just make it sound like he had some preconceived notions that this was a track car or something.  I'm sure it doesnt drive like a lexus, but its not going to be a jerky rough ride either.

Yeah, I expected it to be a damn good car, just not so comfortable.  The porsches, lambo, etc that I drove around are more track, stiff suspension, lot more low end torque, this was really, really comfy....

I thought the seat would be stiffer ala recaro, but they were soft enough where you would get sucked in nice and it would hold....  really nice.  Our M seats are fairly stiff, but after I drove the lambo (stiff) to the M the m seats seemed "soft", but that M was a really nice feel.

so yeah, def no thinking it was going to suck, just though more of a racer type car and not really for daily...but damn what a daily it would be....

I agree too that Lawman made it seem like the car was better than he expected, almost as if he had low expectations.  But what i'm figuring is when he said he wasn't expecting it...  I would imagine it would be along the lines of it actually being comfortable and daily driveable, considering its practically a beast.

LOL... in order to delete posts on Cf, at least in my capacity would entail splitting the post out of this thread into its own thread... and then moving that thread into the moved subforum... so what i'm saying is... its not going to happen, haha

Yea I test drove an 08 m5 last week and I want one. I now see why people buy or lease, mostly lease beemers. Hands down outclasses infiniti.
