2010 Cadillac CTS

I probably should have written up my view of the SRX first as I drove that one first but I wanted to get my thoughts on paper (digital heh). OK I personally think this is a very cool looking car. Very blocky like it was carved out of granite. One bad thing is there are like 7 versions of this car with all kinds of engines and all kinds of interiors an exteriors. The base version is cheapo and really do you want the same basic car as the local handyman? I know that is elitest and snobby as all hell but it has to bum you out when you drop 50k on a car but someone else pays 33k for one that looks basically the same. Here's an example, on the base version on the sides of the bototm of the front are these cheap looking plastic inserts with plastic grill looking things but they aren't real because they are all filled in. Now that's just lame. On the nicer version they are all metal and chromed out.
Body: Nice looking. Not for everyone but I like that it looks so aggressive. It's got interesting shaped lights in the back that actually become part of the body in that they protrude from the car. There are plenty of plastic thing though which I wasn't thrilled with. The body, however, seems like it is made of relatively cheap sheet metal. Pinging it with my finger you could hear Plink Plink on the roof especially. Not that Thud Thud you hear on say a Benz.
Interior: Now here's where getting the nice version pays off. The base version is pretty sparse. It's got those same lame buttons for things like AC that you see on a chevy cavalier (they still make that?). The center stack is ok but there's plastic and that nauseating naugahide stuff everywhere. When you go up scale you get wood look replacing a lot of that and so now there's this nice wood accent. Also, the nav does something I wish more nav's would do, GO AWAY. It pops up out of the dash and can stay hidden if you don't want it. Nav program seemed up to date. It did have this HUGE sun roof. I think it actually is glass and then a fabric under it and when you open the sun roof it must roll up somewhere. It has to because it takes up the whole length of the interior in both rows. Very nice. Stereo was good. I'd say a few steps below the 06 Infiniti.
Fit/Finish: Seemed pretty good. The space between the panels was a tad large but the car seemed built nice. The interior had one piece on the door coming off. Not a good sign. I told the sales guy and he said "no it's not". So I said "then this is built like shitee". Then he pushed the piece back in and said "Oh someone probably you know moved it". Uhhh ok.
Engine: Nice. Had a nice cushy sedan feel but still had giddy up. It moves quite nicely in fact. Steering is precise with very little dead zone in the middle, maybe an inch. (By dead zone I mean if you wiggle the steering wheel while it is going straight, will the car move?) Steering was tight and the engine revs smoothly. I wouldn't say it has a "v8" feel though. I don't know where people come up with that but I could tell in about 1 sec it wasn't a V8.
Electronics: Not too shabby. Once again, the nice version was better. Sound system in particular. The dials do a sweep when you start the car but then go back to "zero" too slow. Also, the nice version comes with pushbutton start (why this is such an issue on the not so nice version I don't know). Well, sort of push button. You basically turn it on like a key but there's no key in the ignition.
Ride: The ride was good. It wasn't like driving in a cloud (Hello, Lexus GS) but it was still comfortable with a good amount of road feel. I was impressed.
Overall: Eh. Decent car. Nothing to write home about. I mean I like the looks but other then that it was kind of equal to say a Maxima. And this long list of extras and options would honestly upset me. It's the kind of car you would want to rent but certainly not want to own.

Nah they didn't have one and my sales guy was this old dude. I felt bad doing lateral turns because he was swinging around in the seat. That's also kind of a bad point of this car. It's kind of an old mans car. I mean the sales guy was this old guy, the greeter? old guy. Oh and there was one guy picking up his new CTS and being shown the car. . . and he was an old retired guy. I feel like my Dad or something in this thing.

No wonder you didn't like it... Wait and drive the V...
I drove one before the V was out when I was looking at getting into the M from the G and liked it, but there was no way I could fit so thats where it ended for me.

You couldn't fit into the CTS? That's weird.. it seems like it would have at least as much leg room as the G up front?
