2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster and 2009 Nismo Z: 2009 New York Auto Show

The Specs
Just in time to catch a few rays late this summer, the new Nissan 370Z Roadster will pack the same 332 hp 3.7-liter V6 as the coupe model. And you can choose between the 6-speed manual with Nissan’s slick synchronized rev-matching feature or a 7-speed automatic. As one might imagine, the Roadster’s chassis has been beefed up along the A-pillar and side sills to help compensate for the chopped hard top. We’d suspect, since the Z and Infiniti’s G37 share a platform, than many of the structural reinforcements found on the new G convertible are used here too. The Z Roadster offers unique high back “net” seats over those found on the Z coupe. The top, like the previous-generation Z Roadster, is power operated and cloth. Nissan offers many optional performance upgrades including 14-inch front and 13.8-inch rear Sport brakes, a viscous limited-slip differential and forged 19-inch Rays alloy wheels.

The Nismo 370Z offers a performance notch above the standard 370Z coupe. “Nismo,” which stands for Nissan Motorsports, applied their high performance formula to the original 350Z. But this new one gets a noticeable bump in horsepower to an even 350 at 7400 rpm. And since the limited-edition model is aimed directly at the hardest-core Z fans, the package comes paired only with a 6-speed manual. A performance-tuned suspension, ultra-light Rays wheels and sticky Yokohama Advan tires are all included. And it wouldn’t be a Nismo Z without aggressive bodywork too.

The Bottom Line
A drive in the new Z has proved that Nissan has smoothed many of the rough edges on the last generation car. The new ragtop should bring that refinement to the wind-in-your-hair crowd. And the Nismo Z is certain to further sharpen the Z’s performance bite. We can’t wait to take a spin in both cars later this year.

This would be perfect for me...wife gave me the idea, can't ask for more, but that was last year, now we're just waiting on the events.

Far better looking with the top down than the 350Z.  The rear fender flares and trunk line really work to its credit.

TERRIBLE color combination.  Poo brown top?  I also wonder how much weight it gained this time around, the 350Z vert was pretty much a porker and got pricey compared to the coupe.

Everything in the 2nd pic is brown....what the heck?

OT: They should have moved whatever it was that is creating those distracting reflections on the front left bumper....

I'm a fan of the new Nismo.  Much cleaner than the base 370Z, but more aggressive at the same time.
