Hurst / HEMI Challenger

The tuner says it takes a Dodge Challenger SRT8 and beefs it up to 500-plus horses. Hurst said the Hurst/Hemi Challenger will be available in four trim levels through participating Dodge dealers. Details include five-spoke Hurst alloy wheels and a classic pistol-grip Hurst shifter.

Pricing has not yet been announced for the four trim levels. But Hurst spokesman Ron Flint said the special model will add a minimum $10,000 premium to the Challenger.

"We are targeting a range of $10,000-$20,000 MSRP above the cost of the vehicles for Stages 1 through 3," he said in an e-mail to Inside Line. "Stage 4 will come later and is a built-to-order model that can range much higher depending on special options like special paint colors."

Challenger SRT-10 Concept

Quote
Meet the Challenger SRT10 Concept, which sports an 8.4L V10 engine graciously donated by a Viper SRT10. You can see the Challenger SRT10 Concept hanging out with a Viper SRT10 ACR in our gallery below, as well as what happens when you attempt to transfer the engine's 600 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque to the ground through the Challenger's rear tires. Needless to say, enough tire smoke is produced to affect the weather in China. Other mods include a functional carbon fiber shaker hood that feeds air to the voluminous V10, a carbon fiber front splitter and rear deck lid, a new rear spoiler, BILSTEIN shocks at all four corners, larger wheels, bigger brakes and quad exhaust tips out back. More carbon fiber trim can be found in the cockpit along with new sports seats and a red engine start push-button just like in the Viper.

Mopar Underground Challenger Targa

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/01_challengertarga.jpg

Quote
Dodge created the Challenger Targa to campaign in the Targa Newfoundland enduro earlier this year.  Affectionately known as "Samantha," the Challenger began its existence as a Mopar Challenger drag race car, complete with a 392 HEMI V8 crate motor putting 540 hp and 490 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels via a Tremec six-speed manual and a modified rear diff. The green hue of the Challenger Targa is pulled from the Viper, but the snake's influence doesn't stop at aesthetics. A KW race-ready suspension, six-piston calipers with 380mm Stop-Tech rotors (front) and 355mm, rear discs with four-pot calipers are all culled from the V10 'Ring-slayer.

Mopar Underground Challenger Blacktop

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/mopar_underground_challenger_blacktop.jpg

Quote
In addition to the Targa model, Dodge and Mopar will debut the Challenger Blacktop at SEMA, retaining the 5.7-liter V8 and six-speed manual gearbox from the SRT8 model. Most of the modifications focus on style, including the black-on-black racing stripe paint scheme, custom spoilers and front brow. A Mopar coilover kit drops the Blacktop over 22-inch Viper wheels created by Factory Reproductions and wrapped in 265/35/R22 (front) and 305/30/R22 (rear) Dunlop rubber. A Mopar cat-back exhaust and cold air intake remain the only modifications to the engine, and if the V8's sound isn't intoxicating enough, a Kicker audio system will keep the Blacktop's driver entertained while bombing along Highway 15 on their way to the SEMA festivities in Sin City

Mr Norm's Super Challenger and Super Cuda

Quote
We anticipate the Dodge Challenger will have a substantial showing at this years SEMA show, and if these two entries from Mr. Norm are any indication, its going to be a big horsepower show. The "Super Challenger" and "Super Cuda" are a pair of heavily modified Challengers sporting 900 HP from Kenne Bell supercharged V8s in addition to their snappy styling and big wheels. Considering the heft of the Challenger is one of its biggest problems, 900 HP seems a good starting point for upgrades. The production program for both won't start with 900 horses. Instead, they'll start at a base model, complemented by several stages with upscale performance and accessories. In addition, each of the parts and add-ons featured on the Mr. Norm's Super Challenger will be available to enthusiasts separately.

As much as I hate the two ton curb weight, the Challenger is pretty bad ass in the aura it puts out.  If Dodge actually built the SRT-10 and offered the Blackout appearance package, I'd be there in a heartbeat to rock a muscle car, blasting my Foghat CD. Grin

This car is 'okay'.. but really doesnt do it for me - stock or not. I would be willing to bet police departments/xHP begin to get them as pursuit cars, though...

Dodge Challenger Convertible

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/autoshows/sema/2008/dodgechallengerconvertiblenews.html#dodgechallengerconvertible5

Quote
Coach Builders' Larry Moran told Inside Line that production of the Challenger convertible will begin on November 15, and that the company is "already taking deposits for getting a place in line." The Challenger convertible conversion is priced at $16,000, Moran said. A 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 currently costs $41,695 including shipping charges and gas-guzzler tax, so expect to pay nearly $58,000 for open-air Challenger motoring.

Moran also says that "custom interiors, performance options and wheels and tires" will be offered, but the details "are not firmed up yet." The car that will debut at SEMA was fortified with a Vortech supercharger that bumps the 6.1-liter Hemi V8 to 560 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. It rides slightly lower on a KW coil-over suspension kit and 22-inch Foose Challenger wheels wrapped in Nitto tires.

The convertible conversion reinforces the Challenger with strut bars hidden inside the trunk instead of a visible roll bar, and the acrylic polyester cloth hydraulic top is padded between the structure and the exterior fabric for sound and temperature insulation. A heated glass rear window and matching fabric headliner are also included.

I liked the convertible better.  If the rear seats are functional, and the hood scoops optional - I'd also drop the rear spoiler too, and the green color, and the black detail on the sides..but it's not worth the price anyway.

I like it also, but like the SRT 8 were and still are way overpriced.  Base RT prices
aren't bad.   Grin

Just followed for a while a silver Dodge Challenger R/T today.  It looked so short and at the same time heavy, hard to explain.

It also looked dated already, I thought it was perhaps going to look like those Chip Foose debatable overhaulin' creations, but it's worse, it's just plain boring and dated.  The spoiler in the back looks so plain like home made.

I doubt it's dynamically enjoyable to drive, so unless it has 450+hp (but who would pay for it?) it's probably a waste.
