Did something change
« on: October 31, 2011, 07:48:34 PM »

I haven't been able to pull up the site for the last few days and thought maybe CARfaq had shut it's doors since volume has been low.  Were upgrades/changes made?

No, unfortunately no changes were made. Ohm made me aware of the site being down; unfortunately one of the database tables got corrupted and it failed to alert me.

You do bring up a point, the site has become fairly inactive which is of course disappointing given the time and effort contributes by ALL previous and current members. I'm at a time in my life where I have little-to-no time dedicate to the site, but hopefullly that will change. I am grateful to al of our loyal supporters that have stuck with us for all this time, though. Smiley

Yep, I noticed the white space instead of the site too. I can understand the problems w/low activity-it was tough my first few years in practice.

I had enjoyed my years w/FreshAlloy and then the change to here w/Ohmy's departure. I have felt a bit of attachment (as much as you can do in this media) to the Ohmster ever since he was so open about dealing w/that tragedy of his buddy's a while back.

I hope this site works out. If not though, I'll have good feelings about my association. You'll do what you need to do. Good luck guys.

Thanks Antz,

I remember the elation of our early days at Carfaq. Jumping on line to check out the latest posts. I was having a ball, signing on while putting my then toddler to bed, thinking of where we could take all of this.

Those days are gone, I barely have time to check-in. My M45, though still phenomenal and beautiful, no longer demands posts. Even with an engine change a month back, it was but a footnote here.

I asked Oz if it was time to shut the doors. But I still find some joy finding the occasional post here. Maybe we can ramp this back up again someday. Probably not today.

It's been a little over two years since that awful tragedy. My son still says a prayer for his lost friend, every night.

I still check in almost every day but I was never a heavy hitter around here.  At this point I figure it's worth it even if it's just to see what new exotic Trin is driving.

For the past week this "old" site has been just a white screen. It was actually pleasant to look at for a time-especially so if one is into meditation.

OOOOOooooooooooommmmmmmm..... http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-sleep008.gif

I know what you mean Antz.  But I see Ohmster and Oz were in this morning getting things up and running again.

I see the site is supporting the stop censorship movement.  I wonder if occupy wall street is next Tongue

Oh, and Antz is still alive.  That's a change.  Last week he was seen on "Walking Dead".

On Wednesday when you logged onto CARFaq.org, all you got was a black screen with a link to find your local legislator/lawmaker just like Wikipedia etc.  it was only for a 24 hour timeframe - like wik.  You will notice on the top left of this screen that our CARFaq.org is still blacked out with a stop censorship notice on it.

if you already knew this and are trying to figure out how "stop censorship" evolves to an occupy movement than I apologize.... hehehehe Grin
