First impressions Escort Passport 9500ix
« on: March 18, 2009, 07:31:15 AM »

Every few years I have invested in a replacement radar detector that promises greater security because of its new and advanced technologies.

This past week I moved from an Escort Passport 8500 X50 that I have had since 2005 to the 9500ix. I think that I made a good choice.

In the few days I have had the 9500ix, many of the false alerts received by the 8500 X50 have not been tripped. Best of all, red light and fixed camera enforcement installations have been identified that I did not know existed.

I am not a speeder and try to stay with the flow of traffic.  However, there are times when my mind wanders or impatience motivates me to drive faster than the speed limit.   Having the feature that displays the mph I am traveling when an alert is triggered, provides me with an instant and more knowledgeable recognition of my mental driving state. In other words, if my mind is wandering and not attentive to the road, the alarm and speed indication focuses my concentration back to my driving.

Although the cost of my new detector is more than any previous one I have owned, my initial thought is that the 9500ix is worth its price.
