Ford's Compact Push...
« on: March 31, 2010, 08:17:24 AM »

With the success of the compact car in europe, Ford is going to be putting a lot of effort into their new line of compacts in the US.  Have you seen the interior in the new focus!?  Ford is going to try and elevate the status of the focus with toys usually reserved for the luxury market.  A customizable screen called "MyFord Touch", Automaded parking (that apparently actually works), keyless ignition, Nav and a dual clutch 6spd.  Sounds to me like they are aiming right at the A3, will it work?  We shal see...  Unfortunately they aren't going to have a turbo version at launch, but its coming.  They also have plans for hybrid and EV versions as well.  It all comes down to how the thing drives.  Hopefully all that work in the euro maket has paid off and it won't be some watered down version.  Apparently the CEO is trying to bridge the european-american gap and that sounds good to me.  BRING THE RS!! Smiley

I think that's kinda neat looking.. a few too many buttons (even for me, though)..

I second that.. the car would actually be good looking as-is, but over here we seem to get the boring (wayy too toned down) version of EVERYTHING... Sad

Maybe ford needs another brand (haha) to focus (no pun intended)/market on more 'edgy' cars. Price always plays a factor too it seems.. they seem to create a euro version that somehow costs some insane amount when built in america?

Is it just me or are there way too many lines and angles in the interior.  I'm afraid I'd cut my hands driving it.  Makes me think of a transformer style cheese grater.
