Nice comparison! Where's the IS 250? Wink Or does it not qualify because no V6?

The omission has been corrected.  The priced IS250 has a V6.

Great info! The price differential amongst the models/makes is quite significant.

$2400 for the 335i active cruise control - nothing else included?  How active is that?  Does it work on stop and go traffic jams, like the one on the FX50?  On the new FX the car can go to a complete stop and then back again up to the preset distance.  THAT is cool.  How the BMW system works?

That's steep.  I'd gladly pass on that, though.

I dont think the bimmer does that. I think the bimmer does have a better radar guided cruise system than infiniti, though. Infiniti uses LAZAR (laser) and it pretty much sucks. I think BMW, Lexus, Merc, etc all use real radar (non-laser; cant think of the name of it though!)

I think i'd also be terrified of the FX's "full speed" cruise control. My M randomly goes awry and tries to plow into semis, etc. I believe the new FX uses the same basic technology for the radar; laser. There's all sorts of reasons/situations/circumstances in which it simply cant work...

Other than in the rain, where it shuts itself off based on your wiper settings, I've never had any issues with the M's intelligent cruise. Granted, I only use it every blue moon or so, but it has always worked as expected.

I use it "all the time", it has about a 60% accuracy rate.

Well, actually I think it works quite well on my FX - the M has only the regular, fixed speed one.  No complains, unless the fact that it does not let me get close enough to the car in front as I wish.  I'd also like for it to start on the closest setting, if one wants it to.  I don't know about accuracy though.

You mean it loses track of the car in front?  Never experienced that, I actually think it is too conservative for my tastes.  Maybe you mean it detects the car on the other adjacent lanes when cornering?  That I found annoying, but it's rare.

I never experienced the one on the BMW though, I have to admit.

Not sure what you mean by 'regular,  fixed speed one'. The M will slow down to whatever speed is needed to keep the 'buffer distance' between you and the next vehicle...and resume to cruise setting when the distance permits. Yes?

No, not mine.  Mine just have the journey and sport package, no tech/premium package.  I also don't have the LDW system.  The FX is loaded with all of these though.  So the cruise control on my M behaves totally different than my premium FX: fixed speed on the M for me.

Oops. My misunderstanding. I thought you were referring to a deficiency in the ICC and not to the fact that you don't have ICC on your M.

Can we talk about features that actually improve the driving experience and not ones that make it easier to not do what I bought the car to do? Cheesy

I haven't had cruise control in 2 years, don't miss it.  Even when doing a 700 mile drive I don't miss it.

That's certainly a matter of opinion. I rarely use cruise, but some live by it. And would possibly also state that it improves their driving experience.  Cool
