Modding this morning!
« on: May 15, 2010, 03:16:08 PM »

Now I have to admit, I actually enjoy this modding business.  I did a bunch of cosmetic mods this morning and had a ton of fun.  Put the new Midnight Black grill in which turned out to be a bit of a pain.  Also put in a bunch of LED's for the entire interior and turn signals and parking lights (these came out particularly well).  I definitely miss that with the old M45.  This is fun stuff working on cars.  Don't get me wrong, you won't see me ever driving some rice rice baby car around but the little things are fun.

New Black Grill (I like it!)

Old Grill (I like it too to be honest)

Yes I know the pics suck.  I should have taken them outside.  Oh and I put in 5k HID bulbs for headlights but they aren't white enough.  Ooops.  Going to reorder some other ones.

Liking the grille! Should do some outdoor pics as you mentioned. Smiley

Regarding the HID's - are they stock HID replacements, or did you somehow end up with halogens (not sure if that's possible on the S config and doing an HID conversion?

Just got the bulbs from V-LED, the bulbs I've gotten from them thus far have been great.  It's my own damn fault on the color.  They are stock HID replacements.

Man I love doing this stuff.  OK, so now I have 6k HID bulbs that match the LED Driving/parking lights and they look great.  I didn't bother with the fogs because they are integrated into the headlight and frankly I actually do use the fogs for. . . FOG (it's not called Fog City for nothing).  All interior are LED.  Was still bored so I bought some Sway Bars (Hotchkis ones).  Those are going in relatively soon.  So, for you modders out there, where do I go to get sways put in?  Yes I could do that one myself but after watching a video on it, I wouldn't give it a go without a car lift.  Is this something I go to the body shop for?  Or mechanic?  I'd rather go to body shop as I know the guy well and trust him.  It's very simple if you have a lift.  Regarding the wheels, I was going to get another set but I don't want a set of wheels hanging around taking space in my garage or storage area.  Instead I was thinking of powder coating the wheels gunmetal gray.  Wife thinks it would be stupid but heh, what does she know.  Last thing I'm trying to get down right now is the rear spoiler.  It's a bitch to get as it was sort of discontinued but you can get them.  Apparently, Infiniti has them but hasn't given them out to the dealers for awhiles because "They are too heavy and infiniti is concerned that the motor for the rear deck can't handle the extra weight"  For what it's worth, that's a load of crap but I guess it might have put extra stress on the trunk motor and they are erring on the side of caution.  I can't seem to find one for sale online though.

Isnt the G a lease? If you powder the factory wheels you may have an issue upon return....

Regarding the sways - i'd say "performance shop" if possible; body people second; mechanic third
