So, after more problems that one could ever hope for, this car was successfully lemon-lawed. Jaguar are one of, if not THE worst car manufacturers ever. After something like 6 months, having to file a case with the Florida Attorney General for Jaguar L.R. North America blatantly violating lemon law statues, the car was taken by jaguar. They fought until the end, dragging both myself and my attorney through literally about 6 months of agonizing time wasting. They initially tried to give me "hush money" to keep the car and never speak of the issue again. I quickly declined, and they made another offer, to which I declined as well. In the end, we were able to prove the dealers servicing the vehicle were completely incompetent and the vehicle did NOT operate as jaguar alluded to (eg, as a normal car). After almost 2 months in service (on and off) two dealers deemed the car "fine"; and they sent out a regional jaguar rep. to drive the car and put literally 2 miles on it and deem it "operating as designed" and jaguar formally declined the lemon repurchase.

The next WEEK I finally found a respectable dealer who was able to reproduce nearly EVERY issue I was having. After the car was at that dealer for almost TWO WEEKS  I sent the repair order to my attorney and Jaguar N.A. and they IMMEDIATELY responded with an offer to repurchase the car, with request not to go into arbitration.

To add insult to injury, they attempted to append legal jargon forbidding both myself and my attorney from ever speaking of the case, any settlement, or any wrongdoing by Jaguar which violated the Florida Attorney General Lemon Law guidelines. We declined their offer, made them remove their gag-order, and continued on. They proceeded to drag out the vehicle return process for an additional TWO MONTHS after I had returned the car to the dealership. They lost the title to the car, and actually misplaced the vehicle itself at some point.

Either way, the car is gone. I miss some things about it (amazing power, suspension, etc) and not a lot of other things (stalling, transmission issues, fuel supply issues, idling issues, numerous recalls, etc). It's sad. Jaguar are so close, but so far.

dang, that sounds like you had to go through a lot...  too bad, the car seemed to have some promise... heck I saw a white XF-R the other day and thought is was a nice looking car... subtle changes on the R model to let you know its different but not too much...

dang... just too bad to hear, but glad it worked out for you....

so what you got going on next?

Terrible quality and service but at least you are finally rid of it.  So what's next on the list Oz?

Yes. Great looking car, amazing driving car. P.O.S. car, though.

totally forgot about your F and i even posted in that thread... guess you need to post up more on your "new" F.

so you think the issues with Jag are Tata based?  I know someone with a 2006 XJR and they love it, runs well, no problems at all.  So you think Jag has sunk back down?

thats too bad if so....

Well no wonder we're confused.  You posted about the XF being gone and the ISF coming in three months ago.  Has it been that long in legal wrangling even after turning over the car?

At this point can we assume that Jaguar is covering your legal costs?  It sounds like they'll add up to a fair chunk of change.

Haha. No worry! The issues are partially Tata based, but also stem largely from FoMoCo. The engine, chassis, etc from my understanding were designed and sourced from Ford. Jaguar L.R. handled assembly, which they proved they can actually do even worse at than ford. (I should not have the dealer call me and ask why the screws for the sunroof assembly of my $70k car are literally rolling around in the headliner).

Between ford's lack of truee quality assurance, and jaguar's f**k you attitude, you really end up with a disaster of a product. Its particularly flattering when the dealer informs you they are giving you a loaner as a COURTESY from the dealer, and not from Jaguar. Jaguar does not require dealers to maintain loaner fleets, nor do they reimburse the dealer for loaner costs after something like 2 days. The car wasn't just bad, the service was too.

It took almost 2 months from the date of vehicle surrender, to the time when I received the payoff from Jaguar. This put me in a precarious financial situation. My losses were significant after attorney and Jaguar nickel and diming me to the last cent. Also, since a lemon return doesntt count as a "trade in credit", I had to pay taxes on the full price of the IS-F rather than paying the tax on the delta between tthe price of the old vehicle and the new (so, instead of paying literally nothing, I had to pay something to the tune of 4k in taxes on the F.)

In the end, I am glad it's over. During the process it was almost my undoing, however. Jaguar is nothing short of a callous, faceless company who is out to defraud consumers (most, if not all issues with my vehicle are known to internal jaguar staff, but not made public data or acknowledged by dealers).

Any vehicle based on the new 5L supercharger w/ direct injection (XF-s, xf-r, xk-s/r, range rover supercharged, jaguar xj supercharged) suffer from the "rough idle" issue. I have had this verbally communicated to me by multiple techs, and they state that jaguar L.R. refuse to comment on the "issue" and that the engines are within "normal operating parameters". This is indeed truthful, if you consider "normal operating parameters" to INCLUDE a completely unacceptably rough idle, with misfires. Apparently jaguar think that's just fine.

Oh yeah, if you know anyone sporting a new XJ with the rear window shade, give it a little manual pull. They will have to take it to the dealer, who will have to remove the whole headliner, to make it operational again.

thats just too bad about this 5L supercharger engine.... Top Gear is usually very critical about the cars they test out and the vids on the XF-R and new XJ w/ the supercharger are glowing about the cars....

And both are done by Clarkson....

XF-R

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/ovOh58UBWOs&amp;ap=%2526fmt%3D18&amp;rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/ovOh58UBWOs&amp;ap=%2526fmt%3D18&amp;rel=0</a>

XJ supercharger...

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/-jQg-yqyVhk&amp;ap=%2526fmt%3D18&amp;rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/-jQg-yqyVhk&amp;ap=%2526fmt%3D18&amp;rel=0</a>

I guess for a test run or weekend it must be great, but long term that rough idle issue is just too bad... and hope they fix it up b/c it is rare to hear Clarkson rave so much about these cars and the engine...

but of course, he does not have to live/own this on a daily basis....
