The New Regal...
« on: March 30, 2010, 04:21:01 PM »

The other day I got to take pictures at a GM press event for the new Buick Regal.  Doesn't look like a bad package.  At launch they are only bringing the high-er end model with leather etc. all starting at a little over $26k.  The only real options are a sunroof, stereo and Nav.  With every option it tops out at $31k, all include a turbo Ecotech engine.  This is the third market they are releasing this car into, the other two it has captured the best selling car in its class.  They are looking to do it again in the US.  I'm looking forward to the GS version with more power and AWD, but the ecotech engine has been around and I would think has some decent mod potential.  I am happy to report the interior is much nicer than most other newer GM cars and the center stack while hints of the other models, this is the least "transformer" looking.  I like the lines on the rear, looks almost wide body but classy...

I've seen a few buicks on the road lately and thought they looked pretty darn sleek.  Definitely a player in the segment.

Damn.. beat me to it. I have seen some too, and been surprised at how decent they look. Although, as with all things GM, i suspect the interior quality is probably where they shaved some money...

Kind of reminds me of a VW CC.  Oz I'd say the interior quality if pretty good, like the new Buick LaCrosse.
Ive read that it has a better quality interior than the Lexus ES 350.   Cool

I have to agree with you that a lot of other current gm models have horrible interiors.  They have this transformer garish cluster in the middle with horrible plastic covers that sound like tin foil when you tap them with your finger nails.  A good example of this is the new small GMC suv they just came out with, the Terrain.  We had a press car that GM gave us when I went to take pictures of all those Packards, and the thing was pretty much decked out, ie over 30k and the dash was absolute garbage.  The seats were OK, there were some cool tricks in that the back seats moved for, aft and reclined but it just didn't make up for the cheap chrome and horrible materials.  This car however, doesn't suffer from the same cheap factor as most other GM models.  Its no Audi, but a huge step forward for GM IMHO...
