Too few luxuries per gallon, Orlando tells limo operator
« on: June 15, 2008, 03:22:53 AM »

Another story I just ran across. This is truly absurd.

Orlando is trying to go green, but you wouldn't know it by talking to T.J. Donaghy.

Donaghy, who runs a car service for corporate clients and others, was denied a permit by city officials when he tried to add a hybrid Toyota Camry to his fleet.

"I'm forced to use the gas-guzzling Lincoln Town Car, which gets 15 miles per gallon if I'm lucky," said Donaghy, owner of Aristocrat Transportation.

City officials say they aren't discriminating against hybrids, which are more fuel-efficient and pollute less. But, they say, the Toyota Camry just isn't fancy enough.
