What car gets you going?
« on: January 25, 2010, 11:46:06 PM »

So - in the current state of the economy, the carpocalypse, etc - I am realizing there are very very few cars on the market that are both attainable ($$) and exciting/intriguing.... and based on that, I'm kind of curious what everyone's favorite cars are currently (I think we've done a "what i'd like in my garage" thread before, but it's time for another!). If you can, maybe list a few things about why you would, and wouldn't want the car. Also - any future cars that you think might be interesting. Maybe list them from "practical" to "impractical". Smiley

(Future) Hyundai Genesis Supercharged - Good: Price, supercharged, sleeper, price. Bad: Could use a bit of sportiness and refinement.
(Future) Infiniti M50 - Good: Beefier engine, brakes, suspension, decently priced. Bad: Questionable styling
(Current) Cadillac CTS-V - Good: Huge engine. Sick performance/handling. Bad: Bland styling, poor build quality, overpriced.
(Future) Lexus GS-F - Good: If they pull this thing off like they did with the IS-F, it will absolutely be a winner. Bad: $$
(Current) Lexus GX: Good: Good offroad and on road manners. Well rounded design. Decently priced for the segment. Bad: Yeah, it's just a dressed up 4-runner
(Current) Jaguar XF-R - Good: Exterior/interior looks, well packaged. Bad: It's a jaguar, still. $$$
(Future) Lexus LF-A: Good: Everything. Bad: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Might I suggest checking out the new S4...   The new diff in that thing is insane!  I'm also really glad they went back to a forced induction V6.

Bugatti Veyron...car of the decade
McLaren F1...car of the century
Any Ferrari, specially F1
Any McLaren
The Viper (why not?)

In the real world, I'm pretty happy with what I have.

What I would like to add, is a convertible, 2+2.

Or something outrageous, like a 2005-6ish Jaguar XJ-R, 80' Rolls Royce (?!) or a 02' Mercedes S600 V12 turbo (I meant SL) with options like black bird's-eye maple finish.

Theres a mod for that...

European tuners from Motoren Technik Mayer (MTM) have started tuning the brand new 2010 Audi S4 with a new supercharged 3.0 liter V6. With only some minor ECU tuning; no underdrive pulley, intake, or exhaust modifications, they were able to crank out 430 horsepower. That is a 97 hp increase over the stock model, and the kit will sell for around $3,500 USD.

Its expensive, but thats b/c its MTM.  There will be much cheaper options here in the states.  Also intake and exhaust mods are usually substantial on FI...  The thing also gets 27mpg on the hiway.

A truck that gets me going, but probably not anyone else is the F150 Raptor.  I am on a quest to make a mobile multi-media station that would be able to reach ANY destination and this would be a great vehicle to start with.

Well, I'm meeting with Ferrari this afternoon to talk about the 458 Italia.  That should hit my driveway in October.  But others for me right now are the Caddy SRX (I just like the interior but the engine is woefully underpowered), the M3 Convertible (but can I really do that again?), the G37 Convertible, the S5 (very nice looks on this car).

i thought you said one audi was enough for you, lol.   I think the RS5 is not far out though, and I think that will be the perfect balance of beauty and power.

Yeah but the M3 just makes me feel like I'm trading down.  Everything from the interior to the bleah looks.  And yeah, probably not doing the S5 since I already have an Audi.  Looks like G37 convertible but I've got months to go and change my mind weekly.  Honestly? I'm not all revved up over any of these cars.
