What can you say?

It's an awkward-looking vehicle, just like the other "neither fish nor fowl" models out there like the X6 and the Crosstour. Even so, I think Acura managed to make the ZDX even MORE awkward-looking than the others. Heck, its little brother Crosstour looks more "balanced" than it does.

The ZDX is too heavy, the hatch is too small, the mileage is too low, etc., etc. But mainly, these vehicles are the answer to a question no one asked.

What are carmakers thinking? As if they're not struggling enough as it is, they come out with vehicles few peopel will actually buy. Go figger.

While i CAN inderstand X6, ZDX make no sense at all
X6 is very sporty, handles truly like sports car, Acura is far from it
Storage and looks far more superior on X6
10K price difference only?
It's gotta be at least 20K diff to even concider ZDX

I've got to disagree, Andrey - no elephant weighing over 5,200 lb. can rightly be called sporty, no matter whether it has a blue-and-white propeller on its nose or not. Get too sporty with this behemoth in the twisties and you'll end up in the ditch feeling foolish. The X6 is nothing but a tall-ish station wagon with a sloping roof that cuts into passenger space and cargo capacity.

A "car" shaped like this actually SHOULD be more softly-sprung and LESS sporty, since station wagons are designed for families and soccer moms. Unfortunately, neither the x6 nor the ZDX fills that role well, so neither of them has a clear-cut mission in life. And that's why neither one will sell many copies - in America, anyway.

Argh.  They make the cars in this segment (X6 for instance) so high, but at the same time they want it to look like a coupe so bad, that they screw up the whole proportion of the thing.  They look too short overall lenght or the roof line is too high for their overall size.

The BMW front end looks like they raised a 3series and then melted the bumper to fill up the empty space bellow.  Ugly.

This one manages to do worse: they designed another front end in the bottom totally unrelated to the rest of the car!! LOL  The front end looks like there's two cars, one on top of the other, in a dumpster.  The top looks like an Accord fell on top of an old Mitsubishi Galant or Camaro.

HAHAHA.  Oh man, they are both hideous.  Look like moon buggy.  OK that being said, I just wish the automakers would stop remaking the dictionary.  COUPE=2 doors.  You don't see them making black cars and then saying it's uh "Uber Dark Red".  How about making a Hatchback and calling it a "Xtra Ventillated 4-door".  I mean cmon now.  (Yes MB I'm talking to  you too)
I will say that in person the X6 isn't that bad but I seem to be the only one who thinks that.  Wife will actually point it out on the road and tell me "that's the stupidest ugliest car I've ever seen" and she keeps doing it like I haven't heard her say it everytime.  My response is usually "actually the Acura Transformer (the TL I think) is the ugliest car I've ever seen.

Yes, Mike, it is heavy since it weighs 5200lb+.
But have you ever driven one?
It's amazing what they did to this car
It doesnt feel like SUV at all and it's conciderably light on it's feet despite all that weight
4.1sec to 60 and 0.92g is not too shabby (M version)
And no, there is no sacrifice in the rear room
Unless you're over 6'3'' you'd be a lot more comfortable than in most sedans
Cargo space is HUGE
So, let check something here
It handles better than let say FX, has more room and cargo space, big head-turner (not important, but cool)
So, it is SUV no mater how you look at, but it performs and feels like good sport sedan, while having good storage space

P.S. Dont call it vagon, leave that for 5-series or 3-ser vagon, or MB , audis, etc
X6 for some strange reasons sells very well too

Edit:
I'm obviously biased, not just because it has roundel, but it's currently my favorite car
For me, with family of 3 people it's a perfect car
I'm kind of running out of space with my coupe and X6 is just perfect blend of performance luxury and utility

I'd rather have the ZDX, both look different, but the interior of the ZDX looks
more modern than the X6.   Cool

Am I the only one that finds "voice recognition" practically useless.  One Toyota, One Audi, One Benz, Three Lexus, two BMW and they barely if ever work on any of them.  The ONLY one it ever worked somewhat was on my Infiniti.  Worse, on the Lexi and BMW they do bad things like you say "Set Driver Temperature 72" and it then goes "ATM displayed on map" and you have to figure out how to delete it because your map now has 2 billion atm's.  Forget about how silly you feel talking to your car and the fact that it is faster and easier to just hit the darn button.  Yet, car makers seem to throw that out there all the time as some gee whiz awesome gadget.  On my BMW and Toyota the best thing about it is my kids and me laugh at it when I hit the button and it does what I ask 20% of the time so I usually say something like "Dance Like a Chicken!" then flick the car back and forth.  Kids cackle when it goes "hmm, didn't understand that".
Also, "points of interest", I mean. . . really?  Does anyone use this ever?  "Oh hey my car says that there's a museum coming up!"  Don't you know all the points of interest in your area?  Sorry, I was just watching that zdx commercial and rolling my eyes.  Traffic is nice though.

Watch out, Trin - someone will call you a Luddite if you keep this up!

I agree on VR - the only carmaker who has one that works is Acura, and my Acuras worked very well. Oh, I can usually get the Lexus to show a list of nearby restaurants, but it doesn't seem to understand much else. And why every carmaker has a different set of command logic is beyond me ... with one system, you must say "Show nearest gas station", while another one requires you to say , "Show nearby gas stations". Say the wrong thing and you get nothing. I'd like ot see this standardized, since I don't know what to say any more.

Points of interest aren't intended for areas right around where you live, and where you know your way around. It's mainly for travel. Drive into a strange city and it's very handy to e able to ask the system for lodging, restaurants, gas stations, ATM's, or whatever. And after you've gassed up and had dinner, you can check out a nearby movie or whatever. VERY useful when traveling.

Back to VR, a typical attempt on my Infiniti usually went like this:

Me: "Show nearby restaurants"
Car: "That is not a valid command"
Me: "Huh? Show ... nearby ... restaurants"
Car: "Displaying post office icons on screen"
Me: "WHAT??? SHOW NEARBY R-E-S-T-A-U-R-A-N-T-S"
Car: "There is no CD loaded in the player"
Me: "YOU SORRY PIECE OF ****, show the ******* RESTAURANTS!
Car: "I'm sorry, Dave - I can't do that."

No offense intended. I guess the term "sporty" is relative. I just have trouble with calling ANY SUV, wagon or crossover "sporty", especially when it weighs over 2-1/2 tons.

To me, sporty is light and nimble, and I just can't see any vehicle like this being like that. It probably drives nice, but to me it's still neither fish nor fowl.

But that's just my opinion.

I actually like the looks but have to disagree about back passenger space. Thought it was very tight for that overall size of vehicle.

Gotcha
I guess we have slightly different definition of word "sporty"
I'm probably going to miss my 335i when i get something roomier, weither it would be new 550i or X6
It's not going to be as nimble as my current ride
Though I hope it'll be somewhat close in most driving dynamics
The fact that it covered "the ring" faster than previous gen. M3 (E46) is fair enough to call it sporty for me

Some sport Uties
