Audi - Time for a new Marketing Group?
« on: April 16, 2009, 09:49:28 PM »

So based on an article I saw today, and a previous ad.. I'm thinking Audi's marketing department aren't really quite as clever as they think they are:

Now, talk about setting yourself up ^^....

I'll give it to the BMW dealership. They responded well.

So, now what?

Original article: http://www.bmwblog.com/2009/04/13/billboards-war-bmw-vs-audi/

So, having seen the following commercials a few weeks ago:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/T9tzrmUN-7k&amp;ap=%2526fmt%3D18&amp;rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/T9tzrmUN-7k&amp;ap=%2526fmt%3D18&amp;rel=0</a>

and

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/l8MTpaBUCpc&amp;ap=%2526fmt%3D18&amp;rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/l8MTpaBUCpc&amp;ap=%2526fmt%3D18&amp;rel=0</a>

I get what Audi are TRYING to say, but deep down, aren't they doing a better job of showing Lexus' success? At the end of the day, if Audi sold as many Q5's as Lexus did RX3XX's, Lexus could make the same commercial about Audi...

Considering how boring and geriatric the RX is to look at, it gets the point across.  Gold, ew.

I think the TV spots are alright.  Lexus has been selling one flavour of RX since its inception, and that flavour is boring.  Audi is doing a pretty good job of highlighting this.  That billboard campaign is hilarious.

i caught the billboard thing on another site... funny stuff.

and i was thinking prior to the audi commercials... there ARE a hell of a lot of RX's on the road.  its really crazy just how many you'll see in a day.
