Cadillac and Audi show highest improvement in luxury brand perception
« on: May 13, 2008, 12:40:30 AM »

Influential auto resource Kelley Blue Book (KBB) and its marketing research team have named Cadillac and Audi as the two highest performers in improved brand perception in the luxury segment. According to the results of a recent study, Cadillac improved most among the factors of driving comfort, exterior styling, interior layout and design, interior roominess and storage space. Audi was deemed most improved when evaluating seating capacity, luxuriousness and available options.

The survey is based on the responses of thousands of new car buyers in the U.S. over the past 12 months and focuses on how consumers perceive and rank car brands – not on how the vehicles actually perform themselves. The study delves into how each manufacturer’s brand equity differs across vehicle segments, compares the relative standing of each make versus competitive makes, and reveals the decision factors of new-vehicle buyers within each make and segment.

Researchers cite the increased number of new models and significant redesigns for Audi and Cadillac as well as increased marketing efforts as the key reasons for the improvement in brand perception.

Cadillac’s CTS and STS have recently been responsible for a big jump in that brand’s perception, both in terms of quality and capability. Audi’s R8 has performed as a halo vehicle for the brand, especially in the U.S., where it has been very warmly received.

When I worked for GM...they were really improving their gas comsumption. The new Silverados are really doing much better getting 3-5 gallons more per mile than its competitors. I was really surprised with how much they have moved up.

I must say, if the CTS-V was available today (or in a month or two) it would be on my "cars to consider list". The current CTS is a bit underpowered though.

The perceptrons are right in the case of Audi ... Cadillac's ranking is poised to take a fall, methinks.  GM doesn't have the resources or the clue to sustain Cadillac.

yeah would be interesting to see the results of a study which surveyed buyers every 12 months.  At the 12 month mark, I had only two complaints with my car the paint and the grille.  Now... the almost 2 year mark... there are a few more rattles.

What kind of rattles?  Or is it the normal creaks and squeaks that every car seems to go through no matter how nice...

theres a rattle in the dash every so often... that one has been complained about all over the G35 boards, doesn't really bother me though.  The one that irritates me though is inside the seatbelt mechanism right by my left ear... I usually have the stereo up pretty loud though, so not too noticeable

I actually have not been into the dealer since I noticed the seatbelt anchor rattle... but I'll be sure to bring it up when I go in next time.  Oh... there's also a lot of talk about brake squealing prior to the time when new brakes are needed.  Happens only during mild braking... but its very annoying... I'll definitely be mentioning that as well, cause its annoying

I was interested in Acura when I shopped last time, but just wasn't feeling the FWD.  Now I like the SH-AWD but not as keen on the 5spd or the styling.  And btw, wow on all the buttons on the console, LOL.  And the car is larger, which is probably going to be necessary for my next vehicle. I'm not too familiar with Acura's reliability/wear and tear ratings.

Any thoughts among the perceptrons of the new 2.0T Audi trim level for 2010? A 4-cylinder turbo large-ish luxury coupe?
