There are so MANY HID kits out there. Some can range from $1k to ebay kits at $50. I'm honestly thinking about removing my kit and putting the old PIAA bulbs back in. The bulbs that came with my hid kit aren't the greatest fitting bulbs...they are leaking and allowing condensation into my fog light housing.  Angry

I can't recommend any certain kit. Nothing will fit like the factory bulbs. If its the color you're after...you can replace the bulbs with a HID color match? Just a thought.

Chicklet, which set did you end up getting?  and how did you get them for $50...

On a side note, I buy from HIDGUY down here in San Diego, he can get you some pretty good prices.  I paid $120 for a 3000k HID with yellow HID bulbs.  They're the slim ballast kind thats "all the rave" these days, and they're made by Xentec.

Shoot me a PM if you need some more info M_on_20s

No. No. No. That's precisely why I asked him to start this thread. There was too much valuable and informative discussion occurring in the background.

Same thing with the Nav Hack. I've had about 15 PMs and several calls from new members. Everyone should have access to these discussions. That's why it's a forum. Smiley

lot of kits like the chick says.  Things to look for.

water proof...my kit has no leaks in the housing and runs well! (knock on wood)
H11 bulb (OEM is H11 halogen so get H11 HID kit)
color temp.  To match OEM get a 4300k-5000k bulb (OEM is 4300-4500k).  If you want more blue get 6000Kev, if you want yellow hids like br1ank get 3000K...

my kit is 5000K.  Slightly more white than OEM, pretty much same as OEM color...no blue tinge...

thanks for the info i like the oem temp on my m35 but i was looking more of a blue look but not to much so i got the 8000k i hope that wasn't to much and i also got a h11 hid kit also in 8000k for my fog lights I'm hoping its not going to be to much. you know anybody with a 8000k on a m35 and what does it look like i paid 99.99 to upgrade the low beams too the same temp as the fog lights and those were 149.00 for the slim design ballast

8000k bulbs will give off a purple hue/color.  6000k is blue.

None.  The OEM bulbs are H11 bulbs, you need to get a h11 HID kit and the HID H11 bulbs will screw right in (as long as 08+ is same as 06 M).

you will need a HID kit, with wires, ballasts, etc.  Make sure waterproof, make sure you know what color hue you want.  The bulb will fit right in, you just need to find places to secure the 2 ballasts and run the wires.. simple install for audio type installers.

but in terms of conversion... nothing ... plug n play....

8000k should actually start to look blue almost purple in some instances.  i'm assuming for 149.99 you got the Xentec kit with the slim ballasts and I remember them looking pretty purple.

LOL...yeah if you want to sell them back to me...I will take them. Seriously! PM me a price lol. I gotta get my hid kit out. I hate it.

br1ank...I bought a Riken hid kit. It wasn't $50...kits start at $50 (on ebay) and go upwards (on ebay and other companies). I was referring more to the price range and quality you pay for.

lawman....you are so correct!!!
