2010 BMW M5 Preview
« on: July 03, 2008, 09:20:59 PM »

Quote
A V10 engine will return but could be enhanced with a pair of turbochargers and an extra 500cc in displacement. Expect to see power levels up around the 550 to 580hp mark to bring it into line with Audi’s recently revealed RS6. The likely transmission will be BMW’s new M-DCT dual-clutch system, as found in the M3.

Here are some renderings of what it possibly will look like

Kind of bland IMO, guess I'm getting hard to impress these days.

As always, I don't like the eyebrows over the headlights trend.  Also, in the pictures above the rear exhausts look ridiculously small, no?  The rendering is terrible also in the LA blue color, the fishbowl windows...

Does nothing for me.

Tail lights have similarities to the 7 series.  The tail pipe is a bit small.

Does it have ICC? If so, I like that there are no silly asymmetrical cutouts like on our Ms!

Rest of car is pretty blah.

The back shows 530i badge, so exhaust is only on one side, not like on M
It does look a bit small, but it's probably bad rendering (proportions)
Overall it looks a bit too plain.
We'll see what it turns out to be when it's in production

I dont think any of the BMW's have the silly cutouts. Same for Merc. Infiniti opted for the cheaper, and less accurate route of using  laser rather than radar. Lexus used laser in the original LS version but quickly abandoned it for radar. Not sure why Infiniti are stuck on laser as it's pretty inferior, I think.

PS - I think this is nothing more than a really bad photochop/artist rendering. Grain of salt.
