The 2008 G is no longer on the Infiniti site, only the 2009. Welcome!

I think I might have posted my feedback in the other G37 sedan thread... can't really remember, but there's really nothing all that exciting. The sport package adds about 2 grand which is really a bargain considering the old sport pkg was about the same price, only now you get the bigger brakes included. Otherwise, nothing earth shattering here, but nice to see you can build and price your own. I got a postcard about 2 weeks ago inviting me to come and test drive, I just haven't had the time to do it. If I do, I'll post a review up.

Oh yeah... and the rims are NOT any more appealing in person. They're pretty ugly actually.

That was going to be my first question - "am i the only one who thinks all the rim packages they are offering this year are AWFUL?"

well on the bright side... that wouldn't be a determining factor for me if I were considering the car, but on the other hand... the rims will also fit on a new GS or M if I were to get one of those.
Hopefully we'll have some insight as to how those two will look in the spring.

Well, as is usually the case, I don't see that much wrong with the stock wheels.
Not my all-time fav's, but not bad IMO.
What I'd like to have seen more is something to distinguish this car from the G35 besides just a badge and wheels. After all, it has a different engine and a different transmission!

I don't see anything to get excited over though. Nothing here that isn't available anywhere else in the lineup and it doesn't turn the G37 into a rocket over the previous model. So why spend the money to differentiate the car when it's only a mid-model refresh?

Well, you have to admit it's a tad unusual to drop in a different engine and tranny mid-stream like this ... most mfr's try to do stuff like this at model change time. And since it's a whole new drivetrain, you'd almost think they'd do something to differentiate it from the '08 ... after all, it will certainly change its trade-in value, etc., since I think most people would consider it superior to the outgoing model. At least give 'em some new tail lights or something.

You guys sure do whine a lot.
Anyway, I was merely noting the fact the 2008's are no longer on the site and the 2009's are there and configurable. The 5 speed AT was antiquated and needed to go. The 7 speed auto and "real" upgraded brake kit on the sport make it a potential shopping item on my list, now - before, the 5 speed and the tiny brakes ('you can upgrade them, blah blah'.. spare me) were deal breakers.

I guess I don't see the need for a big hoopla because these are things that they've dragged their feet on doing rather than doing them when it should've been done in the first place. Considering the way they're equipping the Euro models, the US models now seem rather lacking so I don't feel it's appropriate to make a big fuss over it when they're barely keeping up with their own models in other countries. Kind of like, hooray for being late to the party!
Besides, you're getting the engine, brakes and transmission, what more do you really want? Everytime they start tweaking things like the body and other things, people start screaming. Look at how you guys responded to the updates to the M. If something is good, go with it and don't bother wasting time on it until the full model update.
BTW Oz, Nov for a 2009 model is a late rollout. Means they were doing everything they could to push out the 08 inventory before rolling out the 09. The sales crunch as of late made that harder than usual I'd suspect.

You don't HAVE to admit its unusual... you could say its par for the course for this vehicle. After all, with the last G they had a 260-ish hp model for 2 years and then put in the DE for around 280 for the last two. (they didn't change the transmission though).
And I don't know that I'd call it far superior to the 07-08.. I'd say its merely mildly upgraded. Afterall, the reviews that have come out for it have noted a whopping 1-2 mpg increase, and relatively unchanged performance numbers (likely because they detuned the engine so it wouldn't blow the G37 coupe away... since the G35 sedan was already doing that).
I'm glad Oz thinks its a serious competitor... I love my car, but I'm still hoping for more. If there aren't any rumors of a more exciting G coming, I'll probably be looking at an FX, an M, or something else as my next car in a year.
