Playing around with an idea on my winter wheels

Stock, for reference
http://www.projectforwardmotion.com/gallery2/d/6204-3/wheels_yellow_TA+nothing.jpg

Would be satin black with an outer stripe color matched to the logo on my brakes.
http://www.projectforwardmotion.com/gallery2/d/6196-3/wheels_yellow_TA+copy.jpg

And just regular black for comparison

Figured I'd poll the third party. Cheesy

I really dig the black rims.....

I think something needs to offset an all black rim against the tire.   What about a red stripe instead?

Only if its this kind of Red Stripe. Cheesy

I'm just not a big fan of red as an accent color for myself.  If I had red accents elsewhere through the car, definitely, but I don't.  The only red I have is my tail lights and once my custom ones are completed, that'll be far less obvious.  Actually, other than wheel color, the only exterior accent color I currently have is the yellow lettering on my calipers.  I'm debadged and everything is painted to match body color.  If I had opted for the red AP Calipers (w/ black lettering), then I'd be 100% in for a red stripe.  Just don't think it'd work for what I have though.

I'm partial to yellow, I think....  First car I bought was yellow.  I have tossed around with the ideas of bringing yellow accents to it.

Not feeling the yellow...

I followed a black Lambo the other day. It was gorgeous except for the yellow lips on the wheels. Yuck.

Also, in regards to the red.  I'm trying to avoid the Time Attack look as much as I can even though I've already heavily borrowed it.

The original TA style was a satin black Volk TE37 w/ the red lip.  They've since moved it on to a couple different styles and since then, other companies have started to copy it and its become a super popular tuner look.  Red being the most predominant color.  But the stripe is a necessary evil I feel to go with black rims, particularly on a black car.  But in circles where we're seeing it more and more on different cars and heavily used on the cheaper rims, there's a bit of a push back to it.  Oh, Time Attack style, blah...  Embarrassed

Now even, they do it with white rims and a red lip as the "Honda style" as the Honda JDM tuner cars traditionally went with white rims.

Works in varying degrees on different vehicles.

The red on the white looks like crap.

Personally I still like the red look better. But what do I know, I still have the stockers  Grin

Somehow I knew this is where the thread was going before I clicked in... I'm NOT a fan of the satin/matte black rims or the yellow stripe... sSig_ImSorry

helldorado, I caution you to really take care in what you choose.  I speak from experience.

I once thought that I had the most stunning rims imaginable.  In a way I did.  Once they were mounted on my car, I wanted to drive off of a cliff.  The only thing that stopped me was that I did not want to be seen on the street driving a car with these wheels on it

I sold them after a year on the market for $600 (only suffered a loss of $1400, Ha!).

I'm always kinda out of step with everyone on wheels anyway, but I don't like the black rim/black tire look at all. Looks too much like some kind of temporary wheel for a compact spare tire or something.

We used to think that looked good back in the 60's, when we'd pop off our hubcaps (this was before alloys, you understand) and spray paint our steel rims black. Later, it became popular to spray them gold. It seemed cool at the time, but looking back, all I can think is Ewwwww.   facecover
