Spotted a Debadged Infiniti G35
« on: October 25, 2008, 10:19:19 PM »

I saw a recent vintage black Infinti G35 Coupe today in a parking lot, or maybe it was a G37. I did not look at it carefully because its owner was next to it.  All chrome details were removed from the rear, and all remaining chrome, including the front grille, was painted black.  The wheels were red around the outer circumference, and looked somewhat interesting.  On the whole, I thought the debadging and painting of the chrome  was quite unattractive.  It reminded me of someone who takes an intricately carved ceiling made of a fine wood, and paints it white.

I realize that there are some who think debadging is cool, and apparently others who think painting chrome is also cool.  I think otherwise.

depends on the car.  I probably wouldn't if it was a G37 just cause no one knows what it is even WITH badges on it, lol.  If it was an accord... who cares, go for it.

Good point. I shouldn't genrealize about debadging.  I did not like debadging on the Infiniti G35/37, or painting the chrome black.

Does that mean you didn't like my car Bob? Smiley

I started off by just removing the G35 since it was out of balance by itself.  Then I ultimately removed all of the badges.  I got tired of trying to clean around them, they just collected dirt and wax.

In general I don't like chrome.  I like fake plastic chrome even less.  I'd actually argue to your comparison though.  I think ill placed chrome and badging is more like painting that intricate wordwork.  I prefer to let the natural lines of the car show, break it up with double sided tape and plastic.
