EX is smaller than the G sedan/coupe.  It has a smaller wheelbase by about 2" and is almost 5" shorter in length.  So you're either going to have a smaller backseat and/or smaller trunk.  I don't see where the surprise is here. Smiley

Humm, I didn't know it had a smaller wheelbase, I thought it had a shorter rear only.  How many different wheelbases does this FM platform allow anyway?  Bad decisions there.

Nissan FM platform

The Nissan FM platform is a modern FM layout automobile platform. The name is derived from the "front midships" location of the engine, referring to the engine's center of mass being located behind the front axle centerline, shifing weight to the middle of the car, leaving the front suspension less encumbered. The engine is pushed as far back to the firewall as possible, creating a weight distribution that's close to 50:50, as well as enabling engineers to place the front wheels as close to the corners as possible for better handling. This platform debuted with the 2001 V35-series Nissan Skyline, and has been used as the basis of nearly all of Nissan's rear and all-wheel drive applications since its inception. The platform has been revised recently for use in the JDM Nissan Fuga/USDM Infiniti M35/45, being stretched in wheelbase and reinforced for additional torsional rigidity. This version is referred to as the "enhanced FM" platform.

Nissan E platform

What amazes me is you're the one advocating it. Smiley

Glad they didn't include the QX too.   I think the meaning of the term "platform" got lost somewhere for Infiniti...5 different wheelbases and track, not to mention different height, lenght and width...gosh.   EX, FX, M, G, plus a bunch of Nissans including the ultra short 370z...It's like taking the 3, 5 and 7 series together, plus the X and then you add the Z series and call it all "same platform".  What a joke!  LOL

Considering you have somewhere between 80-90% interchangeability of the drivetrain and suspension components between most of those vehicles, its still pretty fair to say they use the same platform.  Ride height is as simple as a different outsourced shock and spring combination and wheelbase typically a configurable factor of the platform methodology.  The RWD G35 coupe and sedan, 350Z could interchange full suspension, chassis and drivetrain components.  The AWD G35 was only different in front suspension design.  The M had an altered design for some components, but most of that led to the revision of FM 2.0 which was used by the second gen G and Z.  And the FX was different mainly because they changed parts in the rear suspension to accommodate a SUV rear rather letting components extended into the trunk as they do on the other models.

Its good for everybody, really.
