That would be nice.. I do wish I could change the angle. I wonder how long the motor lasts for? When/what actually triggers the display to raise? Do you have separate display for your radio/AC settings?

Best way is to show you. Smiley   AC display is up at the top of the dash around the clock.  Controls are just above the radio.  The radio itself is a double din and self contained.  You can buy a new finisher if you get an aftermarket deck.  The only main shortcoming to the radio is the small display.  Everything is a bit 80's LCD'ish, but I dig the amber.

There's a button on top of the nav screen.  You push it to raise and lower.  It has memory, so when you turn the car off, it always goes down.  When you start it back up, it'll come up if it was up when you turned the car off.  If you don't get NAV, you don't get the screen, its a cubby.  With NAV you also get the trip computer, maintenance computer and fuel efficiency computer.

I like that the old nav screen was motorized and could be hidden.

Motorized? I thought it was spring actuated on my '03 G35C? When closed, depressing it would release the catch and it would come up. I could be wrong, it was a long time ago....or did they change it over the years?

On my '05, its definitely motorized and not spring actuated.  I touch the button and it goes down by itself, or when the car is turned off.

That is actually pretty cool. The LCD does have a weird "blocky" housing around it though.. I do like the way it stays below the dashboard, unlike Merc & Caddy where it actually could get in the way of your view (slightly). I wonder why infiniti abandoned this? Of course.. I wonder why infiniti abandon a lot of neat things they do..

If you haven't noticed, the nav screen you have now is the same between the M, G, FX, Altima, Murano, Maxima, etc...  They just went to a standard for better pricing I think and availability across models.  Same with the keyless start and some of those other features, standard from the top to the bottom for the most part.

Maybe they are different, but they are very similar nonetheless.  This is the one I rhipped (sic)  from my M35:

In this pic you see the data:
Model No. DP7W-1200U
Product Number: 28091-EH00
Xanavi Informatics Corporation, owned by Clarion.

And these are the specs of the Nissan 350Z screen:
Toshiba HBL-0191 Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL)
No.: K8, 140 NEL75-AB140111, LTA070B140A, 2J 01354
LCD support phone number: 847-945-1500
Mainboard: DP7W-3*03, LC7T-PWB, P#JAZ1343
Main Identifying Chips:
H873640 2LT RI 6433640H B63
TOSHIBA 1611F1146 0245FAJ
SHARP IR3Y298 0243
HC 4053A 2 35

(according to this guy)
