G37 Coupe AWD
«
on:
June 18, 2008, 01:13:34 AM »
Infiniti-Nashville USA has quietly announced to it's dealer group the availability of 2009 model G-37 Coupes in AWD version as early as December 2008.
For all intent and purposes, the G-37 will remain the same as far as standard equipment and option packages goes, except for the Infiniti exclusive "Scratch-Shield" paint process standard, along with a new 7 speed transmission and dial type heater switches.
Even though Infiniti worried that this would 'steal' sales away from it's stalwart AWD sedan,...less conventional heads prevailed, and now the luxury brand of Nissan will become the under-powered man's GTR !
Expect the Coupe to go topless via a retractable hardtop in March of 2009.
Keep posted for new models coming in '09,...and don't give up on the 4-dr Q replacement with AWD and twin turbo testicles !

I read somewhere that the convertible would be the first G to get the 7spd, but since have learned that the conv won't be around till December.... the Gcoupe and sedan will probably both arrive with the 7spd at the same time, when the 09 models start rolling in around August-September

AWD coupe will be ugly. That thing will be pushing 3900 lbs but those who buy it probably won't car.
I need a sub 3500 lb Infiniti coupe again.

How about the baby coupe that's rumored to by coming? It will be a two seater but I'm sure it will be under 3500 pounds.

I'm hoping. We'll see what it really ends up being. I've been very disappointed with the new G37. And I'm perfectly ok with a 2 seater. Coupe backseats only serve the purpose of hiding a couple loose items and punishing your friends who are dumb enough to get back there.
Coupes serve to discourage people from getting in the back seat. And in the case that I have 3 girls that want a ride, its a non issue because if they can't fit in the back seat, I have only one thing to say.

If I'm going hatch, I'm probably going Audi. And I'm only going hatch if I don't go coupe. But probably I'm only going coupe if I didn't keep my current one. I still don't see the point in a sedan. If I want to carry something, I want to be able to carry something like my guitars, half stack, wheels and tires, etc... Having an extra set of doors doesn't add practicality because I want something I can carry stuff with and not be miserable driving it, because its a big, heavy SUV with poor handling qualities and crossovers still drive like poo. So have to go hatch. Sedans offer little functional practicality over coupes.
Plus sedans are always tuned more softly. Hatchbacks are usually tuned fairly sporty.

The backseats were the only reason I was 'permitted' to get the coupe. I was able to put two boosters seats for the kids there!
