How 2 Store Your Own Route?
« on: October 26, 2008, 06:39:57 PM »

I've got the nav system in an '06 M35x. How do I make and store my own route, when the route given to me automatically to a place is off?

I guess how does one make and store their own routes?

I think it would be a great feature. Don't think it is in the '06-08's. Though on our '05 Odyssey I could swear that if I ignored the routing, it would remember my preference for next time.

It's been a while since I've used M navi, but I think there was a "follow me" feature. I believe you could turn that on, go from your source -> destination, and then save it, and recall it later? I could be imagining this, though.

Although I have to ask  (not sarcasm!)- if you know the route, why do you need navigation for it? Smiley Just not a frequent enough drive and you need reminders? (I have a few like that)..

Thanx for your input. There is something where you can store a short route less than 20 mi or some such. There is one particular route I take up to Canada that the darn thing takes me way off and the turns are confusing. I guess I'll just have to work hard @ learning the route better; tough on an old guy...

If I recall properly you can 'store a location' in the M. Maybe try storing the specific turns as POI's (points of interest, or whatever infiniti calls them); then you would at least be able to see them on the map before you get to the turn? I realize it wouldnt give you voice guidance, etc.

Another consideration (tedious, and dont know if it will work) is to add both your departure location and destination, and make the specific turns 'waypoints'. I'm not sure if it will let you save the route after that, but I would think so?

Waypoints do not get stored. Nor do routes, otherwise his problem would not be a problem. Smiley

Possibly the new 7.4 update nav disk might have solved the problem w/more updated info? I have 7.3. I read on another list (NICO I think) that the 7.4 disk has less names of routes/streets than previous versions. Anyone herein w/any experience w/it yet?
