I'm more surprised how high Jaguar, Ford and Mercury rank.

knock on wood... the Jeep has been great for us.  We've never had any issues with it!  Looks like we may be lucky

Does anyone find it interesting that Infiniti is 2nd... Yet Nissan is all the way below the industry average?

A relative of mine has an Armada; their 2nd one. The 1st one had brake issues, rear window leaking issues, etc. It was totalled and a new one (two MY's later) was purchased and guess what? brake issues, rear window leaking...

So.. not surprised. I think the QX56 is assembled in the US and suffers similar issues. I think the rest of the Infiniti line is done in Japan. I think a lot of the nissan final assembly points are in USA....

Yes, I am an american. No, I won't buy an american car Smiley

Everything but the QX is made at the Toichigi factory which is a great plant.   All the FM platform vehicles are manufactured there, so everything Infiniti but the QX, and also includes the Z and GTR.

Infiniti #2, very nice.  They have had a nice steady rise over the last few years.  I was initially surprised by Porsche being number one but I guess that is two years in a row.......but if you go back to 05 they were in the bottom 5.  Oh, and btw, Jaguar was number two in 05 as well.  funny how things change.

But his is the "Initial Quality" Study, which takes into account the defects of the first 90 days of ownership, right?  Althought that is important, it is only half of the story.  I doubt Jaguar would go that far as the miles goes on, the same for many others.

A reliable 100k-200k car can only be found at Toyota/Lexus and Honda, 3rd Infiniti, IMHO.  I've heard good things about the 150K+ Q45s, I hope my M35 will be running as good as a Toyota when it gets there.  At 53K miles, I have no complains so far - no rattles, no transmission issues (that was not there to begin with), just normal wear and tear.

Long term quality tests, that is what is relevant for those of us who prefer to keep their cars.

And another interesting comparison of parent/child is the Toyota to Scion differential.

Or that Land Rover (one of the most expensive brands) would be practically tied with Saturn (one of the cheapest brands) both at the bottom of the list.

Yeah...  well when you really look at it..  So is Honda/Acura (Acura being lower yet their "premium" line of cars) Lexus/Toyota...

Well my family owns 2 Infiniti's, 1 Honda, and 1 Audi...  The only thing i'm concerned is that they're above that black line!!!

I am actually surprised to see Acura rated so poorly?

its not really a rating... its how many problems are experienced with every 100 vehicles... I'm more curious as to:

what constitutes a "problem" because, for example, a piece of rubber from my sunroof falling out = 1 problem, just like a complete transmission failure = 1 problem, but in my mind I don't rate that the same way
