I am really concerned about how the tinting on the IS is going to go. THe window seals are a bit bizarre and im afraid it's going to rub the tint the wrong way(heh).. i'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Not sure what impact the seals will have. Properly laid film would only come off if a blade edge was applied to the boundaries...but then again, your pictures might reveal something I'm not catching.

My IS was tinted at the dealer, and it had no problems at all.

Of course, I had it for only 3 months.  Roll Eyes

Mike,

Good to know. I am just concerned about the seals around the windows meeting up properly. Lexus did it kind of strangely on the IS. I am sure it'll be okay.

What brand of tint did you go with?  I've really liked Llumar and Formula 1 on past cars.

Are you talking about stopping just short of the top edge of the window glass? They usually do that. It leaves a little clear rim across the top of the glass when your window is rolled down a little.

Didnt grab a pic, but regardless they got the job done. They did state that this car is difficult to tint for a few reasons, but they seemingly did a great job. I got "Global" tint (metallic) 10% all the way around and 50% on windshield. I have to wait a WEEK before I can clean it.. going to drive me nuts.

Grr.. I just realized they left the front passenger's side window seal still all folded down into the door frame (well, 3/4 of it was).. so I went out there w/ a spatula and pried it back up.. hopefully it'll re-form properly. Looks pretty bad right now. :|

This is after-the-fact, but I saw something online about cautioning the tint installer about using a heat gun on the IS ... don't know what that's about, but it apparently has to do with damaging the rubber seals.  Huh?
