Lexus made the mistake ...
« on: September 17, 2008, 05:59:31 PM »

... of giving me an RX350 (SUV) as a loaner today while they were jiggering with my car.

Well, it just SOOO happened I was wondering how I was going to get firewood home this year, since in the past I've had a pickup or SUV or something. And I'm not about to pay those guys $75 to deliver it 5 or 6 miles away.

Voila! I suddenly have an SUV! So I dropped the back seats flat and stuffed the back-end of that thing with a full quarter-cord of oak firewood (2'w x 4'd x 4'h stack), enough to fill the whole cargo area to the roof. Happily, it didn't affect the handling too much, and it motored right along.

After a thorough cleaning and shop-vac, it looks just as good as new, and I have a nice stack of wood for the coming winter.   Grin

You're back home Brandon?

Is that enough wood to last the winter Mike?   Undecided

Nice!

I used to do that back when I had my GS and needed to haul stuff to north florida - i'd bring it in on a friday for a warranty item and they'd have to keep it over the weekend, and i'd put like 800 miles on the RX Wink

Okay, just remember the loaner vehicle rules ... no hauling of old engine blocks, gravel larger than 3/4", live fish, spent nuclear fuel rods, raw sewage, biological or medical wastes, and ... oh, yeah ... no smoking.

Haha! Fortunately for me, a sheet of plywood wasn't in the rules, so I nabbed one of those before taking the SUV back this afternoon.

I'm curious ... was it the live fish or the no smoking that queered your plans?  Grin

Yes, if you first cut it in two ... 2 4'x4' pieces will fit in the cargo area. (Hone Depot will cut it for you for free.)
