So apparently a 4.0 liter engine wasn't economical enough, so they dropped a 4.5L into the new hybrid, lol.

Granted I was a fan of the last RX styling... even talked my mom into buying one, but I can't say this new one is an improvement... although I'll wait to see it in person before I make a harsh judgement on it.

The grille remind me of Lincolns.

I was never a fan of the RX.  The worst one are the ones with the brown glass, lots of chrome around the tail lights and the gold badges.  Yuck!

The RX aways looked like a raised Camry to me.  I think it has a too short hood for its size, it's barely longer than a van.  But this one looks like a slight improvement, just don't like the front end that much.  Why the headlights don't follow the hood lines, like somebody took a headlight from a different car, and now it does not let the hood to be shut.

Or is the hood open in the pictures? It surely does look so!

I thought the headlights had a rather IS-F feel to them with the bulky bumper.  I'm not a fan of the flattened wheel well surrounds.  (on saturns either).  The back makes me think of a subaru tribeca, and yeah the hood does kinda look open.

I think it's an "okay" refresh - the sales will tell the real story. The hood does look funny, though. Bet they correct that next year.

4.0 Liter never existed
400h = 3.5L + electric motor
450h = more powerfull 3.5L + new better electric motor
RX350 will keep its name, but (as stated above ^^) will have extra 27HP (295 total) in new 3.5L

Humm, that's kinda cheating?   Grin

It's like the BMW 550i, it's just a (360hp) 4.8L V8 (not a 5.0 as one would expect), nor a 5.5L like the Mercedes 550 (380hp).  The 540i was a 4.3 though, IIRC.

540i was 4.4L
This engine is now used in TT form to power X6 xDrive50 and Alpina B7 (7-series) and soon, all new 750i and X5

I guess BMW didnt feel like doing 544i and 548i
540 and 550 is really rounded to the nearest liter number

weird... but seems to be the trend... probably would have been prudent for infiniti to just keep the G35 name even with changing liters as well.

This looks like AMD vs Intel thing, when AMD chose to ignore freq. and we saw Athlon 3800+ > Intel Pentium 4 3.8GHz, etc.

Silly.  We consumers should demand HP (or better RWHP), like Infiniti M27.5 and M32, or BMW 536, for 360HP and Mercedes S380 for 380HP, or something like that... Grin

LOL
Imagine what happens when they have small bump in HP every now and then
That would get crazy pretty soon
