Actually (for the record) you CAN get a G37XS now (sport + AWD pkgs).  But you do miss out on the staggered wheels.

No RAS, no BBK (I think)...?

Why LED headlights are so expensive?  You can buy a bunch of regular leds for a dollar...it scales bad, I guess?

Infiniti need something like that to make a value/money difference.  If not, what?  Rave reviews from mags does not make a car sell.

"Regular" LEDs are exactly that. They are not suitable for lighting up 100'+ ahead of  you.. Wink I am sure there are tons of other variables as well; it just seems that they are still too costly to include on cars for a reasonable price.

Infiniti's value/money difference IS normally technology, but they are slowly losing ground on that to Acura; and dare I say it.. Lexus. Sadly, I think magazines sell more cars than you'd expect. Sad

We are "enthusiasts".. a lot of people are just "car buyers" Smiley

AWS is an option you can get standalone, but I dont think you can get it with the AWD version.  The BBK is part of the sport pkg and is compatible with the AWD pkg.

Yeah, I know, but still.  It would be a great coup for Infiniti if they did offered LED headlights.  Remember the Qs headlights?  Gorgeous (not that it helped sell cars, but maybe it could work this time).

You can find those in the Escalade Platinum though.  I saw one, they're beautiful lights, but it would cost as much or more than an LX570 (at least 20K over a regular Escalade), so I didn't consider the car, specially given the depreciation.  Now that's essentially Government Motors, I would never buy anything like it ever, so, that road is closed.

However, to get an idea, on ebay, those lights sell for $1900, not as bad as, say, GT-R wheels, at around 5 grand.  So I'd say it's possible!

Acura, really?  I don't know man.  The engine alone is a huge let down.  It's like they have only one block for 45 models, Honda and Acura combined worldwide.   Lexus Navi is still bad, AFAIK.

I have heard awesome things about the technology inside the FX50.  From little details like, when you open the driver doors, the courtesy likes come on stronger on that side, but are also lit on the passenger, and then the passenger opens it, it's lights also gets equally stronger, etc., up to suspension design for the massive 75Lbs 21"s wheel+tire combo, plus RAS.  Infiniti does not advertise those things as much, though, you don't see an FX50 running on, say, glass roads with closed shots of the new multilink suspension, etc.   Huh?

Who knows. Maybe they'll pull it off, but i'd be surprised if they did. Smiley

When I say "technology" i mean only bells and whistles kind of stuff; lexus with their PCS, much better/higher resolution touch screens, etc. Acura apparently has a great navi interface + weather (I think infiniti is doing weather now, though?).. I agree 100% that lexus Navi (interface) SUCKS.

Those are the little things I notice - sequential lighting, etc. Infiniti have actually made a pretty big deal about it in some press releases/docs but not others. The sad thing is lexus has been doing it for about 8 years now. Infiniti/nissan also just recently discovered auto-locking doors...

Don't get me wrong, I have by no means turned into an infiniti hater. If they pull the M off right, it'll be in my garage (I hope!) as soon as I can (reasonably) get my hands on one. At the same token, I can really appreciate what Lexus, etc, do with technology as well and Infiniti could take some cues from them.

I know the FX50S is amazing, I was very very close to trading my -F in for one a few months ago but decided it would be "financially irresponsible" plus the gas mileage of the FX really irks me; and I still cant fall 100% in love with the looks no matter what angle I look at it from.. Sad If infiniti took the current FX50S + tech, throw a sedan body on it that looks GOOD, they'll have a winner. If they leave out any of those things, I think they'll be at the back of the line again.. sitting next to the EX.

Humm I just read in another forum that the current LED head lights are super hot (!?) because they're super condensed, that they illuminate worse than HIDs, and that they're less reliable (because they are charged with some super high current).  Maybe it's just for show cars then, except for the LS600h and Caddillacs (also show cars?)...too bad.

I don't know, this could be interesting.....the ability to modify the skins and gauge audience reaction in real-time might allow for quick pre-set changes. Additionally, one-off and low volume pre production units are very expensive and can lead to change constraints for the final product.

Then, on the other hand, it could be because they don't have their act together.

We will see soon enough.

Maybe it's something like this, if so, it's been done by Toyota:

I don't know, because I can't see any clay there.

Maybe they'll have a huge lump of clay (formed like a car silhouette?) that they project the car "on" to? Smiley

A lump of clay; the new M?

Sounds almost of Biblical proportions!!

But then how they would move it around/different angles and/or possibly change its shape etc?  The lump of clay would stay the same.
