The 2010 Infiniti Lineup – Charting the Changes - Infiniti M35, M45
« on: August 03, 2009, 11:54:54 PM »

2010 Infiniti M
The Infiniti M mid-size premium performance sedan enters the last year in its current product cycle essentially unchanged from 2009, when it received a new 303-horsepower VQ35HR 3.5-liter V6 for the M35, a new 7-speed automatic transmission for the M35 RWD model and numerous other enhancements.

For 2010, the Infiniti M is again offered with a choice of 325-horsepower 4.5-liter V8 (M45) and 3.5-liter V6 engines (M35) and with rear-wheel drive or ATTESA E-TS™ all-wheel drive.  It is available in four models total – M35 RWD, M35x AWD, M45 RWD and M45x AWD.  It goes on sale in September 2009.

The M remains a showcase of Infiniti’s advanced safety technology, including Intelligent Cruise Control and the Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) system, an advanced Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with touch-screen, 9.3GB Music Box hard drive for digital music storage and playback and available XM NavTraffic® (XM® subscription required, sold separately)

Changes for 2010 include:
•   Infiniti Mobile Entertainment System Package is now included as part of Premium Package
•   M35 Premium Package is no longer available (applies to both M35 and M35x)
•   African Rosewood interior trim is no longer available with Sport Package
•   Lakeshore Slate, Desert Shadow and Sahara Sandstone exterior colors are no longer available and Wheat interior is only available with Moonlight White and Black Obsidian exterior colors

Looks like Infiniti kind of forgot about the M this time around. Almost every other vehicle in the lineup received updated Navi/Advanced Climate Control System (ACCS). The M lost a package, a few interior combos, and some exterior colors all together. I thought this was their flagship? Maybe they are really going to dazzle us with the 2011?

I didn't get why there was no big changes!  Where's the FX50 engine on the M?  As you said: I thought this was their flagship?

Guess not.

Ah.. yeah. I think they are truly just delaying until the 2011. I guess it's not worth modifying the assembly line in order to make the changes needed, given the fact they are going to (in theory) completely redesign the car for next MY?

Either way - kind of disappointing. As if the sales weren't stale enough, they did NOTHING to offer anyone any incentive to buy the 2010's.

I thought it was obvious not to expect anything new and exciting from a last model-year.  Of course the razzle dazzle will come out next year.  I personally wouldn't have been surprised if they didnt even HAVE a 2010 model and just sold leftover 2009's all year.

I was thinking the brand new model would come in late this year (November) as 2010 model.  Maybe they'll come in March 2010 as 2011 MY...Didn't the 2006 model came in early 2005 too?

i bought my new 07G in November 06, but i think you could get them in October.  The first G37coupes were available in August of 07 as 08 models.  The G37 sedan was available late 08 as an 09 model.  Seems that is the routine with them.  I dont remember when exactly i hit the FX showing, but I remember it was hot, so it was sometime during the summer.

Considering they're just shooting a projection of the next M onto a block of clay... i'm not sure if I'd even expect to see it next spring.  Wouldn't they have a decent prototype by now if they were going to be ready to start shipping out early next year?  My guess would be late summer early fall again.  But maybe they'll shock me, haha.

Okay, but I also thought the projection clay thing was just for show (not to disrupt the Pebble Beach event perhaps, I don't know), and that the car would soon after be revealed in a party of it's own.   Embarrassed

The '06 M came out ridiculously early and that seriously contributed to the depreciation I took on my car. I believe I took delivery of my car in March(?) of '05. I remember being pulled over (go figure) within the first month and the cop going "Why does this say 2006? It's 2005!"... .. I also remember getting random thumbs up from people for the first few months of owning the car. I don't think most people had seen anything like it - it wasn't exotic, but it was (and is) an attention drawing car from a styling perspective; it just seems that people are more accustomed to seeing them on the road now.
