Really nice looking car.. not hugely impressed with the "wood grain" pattern/color though. The headlights are a bit too dramatic as well (ala the new FX).. but all in all, its a pretty nice overall look. I think nissan might have a winner!

I'm sure it's me, but the moonroof in the first two pictures below doesn't look like it goes rearwards as much as the third picture would seem to indicate....is there a dual or extended moonroof option?

its possible... I can't find any pictures of the TOP of the blue Max... it may have an enlarged sunroof, which the tan car does not have

I am actually really not feeling the center stack buttons (radio control, etc); they look "rubbery".

Nissan also needs to find a more attractive compact flash cover. That universal piece of plastic or whatever it is that they are using across the board (infiniti, nissan) looks like crap.

Sales of Nissan's first clean diesel in America could be severely hampered before the car even gets a chance at life. According to Nissan, the diesel engine slated to power the Maxima could come equipped with a manual transmission as its only option. We honestly can't imagine Nissan going through with this idea. Diesels already have a mildly bad reputation in the states due to some of the not-so-great oil-burning products our market has been cursed with in the past, and Americans have a profound penchant for choosing an automatic transmission over a manual. Therefore, endowing the Maxima diesel with a stick as the only option seems like a death knell in terms of sale, although it's probably the gearbox that we'd choose as enthusiasts. Considering how well Nissan has done with its CVT transmission, we wonder if the company could find a way to pair it with the Renault-derived diesel slated for the Maxima.

Speaking of sunroof, I was surprised to see that the one at the Dallas Auto Show awhile back had a sunroof that raised up above the roof and slid back (as opposed to being contained within the roof like all modern sunroofs).

I presume that's the way they'll be ... ?

^ A lot of cheaper cars, scion, pontiac G6, saturn, are still using the out and up sunroof design, so I wouldn't be TOO surprised by that, especially if its going to be a huge sunroof... the space might not allow for a big panoramic sunroof to retract inside.

No - the one at the show looked like an ordinary sunroof to me. And since I spent 3 years with an '04 Maxima (great car, BTW), I couldn't imagine why the sunroof suddenly has to go outside. Mine had the traditional in-the-roof sunroof.

Totally and completely agree! Cars aren't supposed to drive like motorboats.

I had such excellent luck with my (5AT) 2004 Maxima that I would absolutely consider another one some day ... IF it weren't for the CVT. Too much like the old Powerglide slip-o-matics of my youth.

Not bad.  What's with Nissan's sudden love with the weird headlights?  that new 375Z had em too.  Although I like the idea, I don't like either of these versions.  Interior looks nice.  Back is nice.  Heck, I'd buy it over say an Accord or Camry.  I gotta say though that it is eerie looking at these.  Like finding out you have a long lost brother.  I'm used to my Infiniti M45 and wow is this similar.

Well I can't say anything abou the powerglide (Too young) but I must admit that the CVT in the Murano was wierd and i'd rather have shift bump and 5 traditional (preferably 6 or 7) gears.
