I like the rear... its what I hated about the last one actually.  Now its curved like the front engine porsche... 968?  but with a little bump/crease to break the monotany.  I'm kinda curious how it will look as a vert though.

Images of the all new 2009 Nissan 370Z have been trickling out of Nissan for the past few weeks as a lead up to the car's official unveiling at the 2008 LA Auto Show. Details have been mostly speculation thus far, but now some of the rumors can be laid to rest, thanks to information in a photo caption from the LA Auto Show's website. The new Z will reverse the recent automotive trend of bloated model redesigns by featuring a reduced wheelbase and more lightweight body pieces. We also now know that its VQ37 engine will put down exactly 332 horsepower. That is a couple more ponies than are currently produced by the same engine inside the Infiniti G37. For those who like to rest their left foot while driving, a 7-speed automatic transmission will also finally be offered. And for those who enjoy some fancy footwork, but don't have a perfectly calibrated heel-toe, a rev-matching downshift system will be available for the 6-speed manual. Thanks for the tip, RDS!

I think downshift rev matching on the 6 speed is potentially a cool feature.  Launch control and flat foot shifting would round out the package.

I guess it remains to be seen if its something people will like though.  I know some cars that have hill holder assist, some people like it, then other guys have issues adjusting to it, because they're so used to not having it.

something tells me that Nissan won't be offering Launch control on a Z, lol.  But agreed, it would be a nice feature.

The sad thing is you can get launch control and flat foot shifting as features on a Cobalt SS now.

Besides, different transmission, completely unrelated to the kind of LC the GTR has.

It's not VDC'ish launch control.  It's similar to what is on the GTR but with a manual.  You engage LC, push the clutch in, floor the accelerator.  It takes the engine to 5100 rpm and holds it, then all you do is drop the clutch.  GTR does the same thing, except you hold your foot on the brake and it does all the clutch engagements for you.

I just got an invite from my shop to come check out the new Z next Friday.

The following day is a cruise up to Sac to show the Z off up there.
