Next generation Pontiac Aztec..
I mean, X6 M...Man this comparison with the Pontiac Aztec is getting momentum! I think I started the trend
here on CARfaq
, wish I could prove it! (
), now lots of
posters on Jalopnik
are of the same opinion, look at what they did:
The ugliest BMW ever?

Haha.. I never saw your comparison of it to an aztek, but i think you'd be right. I think BMW majorly messed this one up (X6) personally. Oh well, at least now it can be uber-fast too (unless it's just the ///M clad without any of the performance upgrades?)

X6 would've been far cooler if instead of this XUV mess, they took the roofline and applied it to the 6 series and had the coupe, vert and a "4 door" coupe. Probably would've sold better too. I think the roofline works, just not on a SUV, better suited for a car.

I don't think pix do this vehicle justice. I liked the one at the LA Auto show. Though the back seats are less functional than even those in the GTR!

A couple of houses down the road a neighbor has (or somebody who is freq. there) an X5 and a black X6. So I have seen it in person many times, didn't think any better of it. The 3 series front end kills it, it looks like they just raised one: it's too short for it's height. It should be 5 inches lower or some inches longer. The rear overhang should be shorter too, like on the "wheels on the extremes" FX, as it is, the rear overhang is so long it just gives it big fat butt.

I passed one on the way home from NJMP last night on the highway. It still makes me scratch my head.

It is currently a contender for Top Gear
"WTF CAR of the Year"
award.
Quote
Winner of the Question No One Asked Award…
You have to hand it to BMW. Just as the world is collectively made redundant, the world economy decides to commit very public suicide and everyone suddenly decides to pay forensic attention to C02 emissions, they launch the X6; an SAV that defines the notion of conspicuous consumption.
It only seats four, looks like someone shot a 6-series full of bull testosterone and then made it balance on rollerskates, and has the subtlety of Keith Chegwin off his face on cocaine.
The plaudits don’t stop there though – the X6 is remarkable to drive on road, thanks to its utter inability off it – despite the rugged looks. It does precisely nothing that any other BMW car in the range doesn’t do better – as if the people planning the car have not looked up from their welding long enough to ask the question: ‘who the hell are we building this thing for anyway?’

As I said, I've seen it in person many times, thanks to my neighbor. Still think it's fugly. I can understand people saying they like it, but "beauty", "gorgeous"? You can hardly attribute that to (any) of the current Mercedes and BMWs -- as opposed to, say, Audi.
The X6 is a "beauty"? Now that's pushing it...a lot!

I've seen two(? - at least one) in person. One VERY shortly after the debut. Very very disappointed with the look of it, especially the rear....

That's certainly an interesting looking engine design. I'm not sure I've ever seen a V that routed the exhaust through the center of the engine bay like that.
