We were considering using our donation money to enhance our gallery and upgrading from the Lite Edition to Pro:

Lite edition:

Ties directly into SMF, uses forum theme, members and permissions
Categories for images
Comment System
Keywords for picture
Picture Approval
Reporting of Picture
Who is viewing a picture/gallery
Permissions for adding picture, editing own picture, deleting own picture, viewing the gallery, autoapproved image postergroups, and managing the gallery
Settings for max image size and max image width and height
Create's thumbnails automatically for uploaded images
Supports bmp, gif, jpeg, and png images
Easy to install package for SMF

Pro Version:

All features of the Lite Edition plus the following added
Multiple pages for images in a category and other locations
Rating Pictures on scale of 1 to 5 stars
Gallery Admin's can delete ratings and view who rated a picture
Gallery Stats page
User Galleries - User's can create their own personal galleries with categories
Subcategory's (Unlimited levels)
Category level permissions for viewing, adding picture, editing picture, deleting picture, and adding a comment
Reporting of Comments and Editing own comments
Bulk Adding of images
Importing images from a folder on your server/website

I guess the real question is does it add value to our site. Will members use it or will it be a managed add-on with little usage? Given the activity in our photo sections (Hobbies and Interests, Art of Automotive Photography, Galleries), I would vote yes. What say you all?

Go Pro. Particularly for the imaging handling enchancements. I, for one, find the growth and sharing in the photo-related sections really interesting and useful on all sorts of levels. I'm assuming more of the technical administration/reliability of the site will be the vendor's responsibility and I particularly like the idea of thumbnail galleries, which would speed page download on portable devices or slower neworks. I quess one question would be how much more time will need to be spent by whomever moderates or adminsters these extra capabilities?

Anyway, I vote yea.

Sounds really cool... but might be better used after more people are on the site... I guess the question would be, is this a one time expense? Or is it going to recur in time, maybe it would be better to wait on this one till it can be more utilized.

I'm all for it though, whenever the timing is appropriate
