I am a little late to the party, but I do want to wish you a happy birthday Brandon.

When I was 29, I felt like I was getting old.  Only one year from the dreaded 30.  I grew up in a time when "Do not trust anyone over thirty" was a cultural perspective.  I do not have that perspective anymore.

When I was around 45, I was respresenting the owner of a high end assisted living community with about 400 residents, whose average age was 83, as debtor in possession in a chapter 11 case.  After giving a presentation to the residents to ease their concerns, I ate lunch at the cafeteria.  A resident approached me and commented: "You are doing a good job young fella."  I still regard that comment as a very nice compliment.  I remember thinking that in some crowds I felt very old, and in others very young. It is a matter of perspective.

So happy to be out of Orlando.  I was getting tired of foreigners and people who only spoke Spanish.

Now, now. I am a naturalized ESL (English as a Second/Third Language) immigrant!

Oh don't get me wrong, I work predominantly with naturalized immigrants on a daily basis.  There's a fine line between the ignorant people I was surrounded by in the last week vs my standard group of peers.

To say most of them were of football hooligan stature would've been a compliment to them.  Loud, obnoxious, ignorant, they were letting their children run wild.  They made the loudmouth rednecks, which seemed to constitute the majority of English speaking visitors, almost agreeable to be around.  Wasn't trying to sound xenophobic, just tired of obnoxious people who were unwilling to make an effort to be polite.  In general, Disney World seemed to be attracting the lower echelon of people with any kind of manners and it was heavy on Europeans while I was there because it was the start of the off-season.

Even the workers are Epcot were echoing my sentiments and they're almost all from other countries.  Must've been one of those weeks. Smiley
