Hey, this is a time when friends count. We all would wish Ohmy and his family less hurt with this episode of their life. Hence, we all do what we can over the ether waves of the internet.

Thanks, everyone. No one is fully healed, but life for the rest of us goes on.

The funeral was moving and I believe over 500 people attended on a school/workday afternoon.

Their mother is moving back to town and going back to work on Monday.
My oldest still doesn't understand how a father could do this.
My middle one has finally stopped having nightmares.
My youngest  talks to Jenny in heaven.
My wife cries often, but less frequently.
Me, I hold my kids a little longer, and try to really be there when I am with them (no iphone, laptop, etc.).

We discovered GeoCaching the other day. It's like a modern day treasure hunt. Great family activity.

Ohm,

Welcome back.. good to have you here again. Of course, I still don't know what to say. Cherish the moment...

Although I have never been/done GeoCaching, I know people who do it and enjoy it. Maybe someday i'll get around to it Smiley

Again, welcome back.

Glad things are settling down. Humans have an amazing capacity to heal, and children especially are surprisingly resilient.

And while Antz' story is touching, let this experience underscore who the REAL victims are in needless acts of hatred and narcissism like this man perpetrated.

Just like the senseless murders committed a few weeks ago by Maj. Hasan at Ft. Hood, where people with their own guilt complexes are already making HIM the real victim, this man checked his humanity at the doorstep before going inside and violating all the laws of God and Man. I personally have zero compassion for him, no matter how tortured he might have been inside his own head. There is NO excuse for senseless killing, especially of one's own innocent children, and we can only take comfort in the fact he rid the world of further insult by taking his own life. Like a rabid dog, he was defective and a threat to others, and it's just a shame his own suicide wasn't an adequate outlet for his hatred.

Harsh as that may sound to some, it is reality, and I believe the best approach to dealing with horrors like this is to accept that reality. The longer we cloud it in psychobabble and attempt to "understand" it, the longer we remain confused and delay real healing. Like I always told my own children, trying to deal with illogical things by using logic is futile. Accept that certain things are evil and unacceptable in civilized society, and you are better prepared for Life.

Your kids are young, Ohm, but they've already gotten a harsh introduction to the ugly side of life. We can hope it will strengthen them, because they have other challenges ahead, and they can't face them successfully with their eyes closed.

Make an effort to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and help the kids heal. God bless you all.

Thanks, Mike.

In the sermon, the father stated "We have to face the fact that there is true uncontrollable evil in this world. Only then can we heal."
