A Loaner, some 4Runners, some recent pictures...
« on: May 15, 2008, 05:35:39 PM »

I'm kicking myself because I was hoping to sell some prints to the dealership but the last time I went in pretty much the entire sales team has been flushed out or transfered to other dealerships (within the "auto mall").  Anyway, I took these on the drive back to the dealership.  It was high noon so it wasn't the best time to take pictures, but they turned out ok.  I'll post a review of what I thought of the truck when I have a bit more time in the appropriate place.  Please feel free to critique and let me know if there are anythings you would fix.  Cheers!

The pics!

I was hoping ARB might be interested in these, but it was a bit overcast and I don't have a IS lens yet so it was pretty hard to get some descent images.  I'll be taking some more so this was like a trial run.  Anyway, here goes...

Some great pics in there.  The only critique I have is with some of the first pics... I would have adjusted the level of the horizon in contrast to the vehicle lines.

For example... I think this picture would look better if the angle made the trees in the background not line up directly with the side view mirror on one side and not the other.  I would try to lower the tree line versus the overall vehicle height.

Does that make sense?

My favorites are 3, 6, & 11

Thanks for the critique 07!
I agree, that one of the QX is not my favorite and I almost didn't post it.  I should have payed more attention to how the truck was not totally sitting level and like you said, used the lines and have them work with the vehicle instead of run right through it.  Either way its a pretty boring shot...

From my PERSONAL experience I can say that I have seen a 4-Runner SR5 go DEEPER into thick muddy woods than any Jeep or jacked up Silverado. So when I saw the last few I almost shat myself. I can imagine a 4-runner with a snorkel will pretty much go ANYWHERE!?
Oh, and I found pics 5 and 6 to be REALLY cool!

From my experience... wide wheel bases and longer vehicles are at a distinct disadvantage.  I off-roaded a Dodge Raider... that car was the best!

[thread hi-jacking!] - I took my FX45 muddin' once. It did pretty well. There were people w/ jeeps, trucks, etc stuck and I plowed on through.. even running the stock 20's with summer tires. I did have the AWD "locked" though (or whatever the button was Smiley )
