Beginning of the end...
« on: July 07, 2008, 02:30:05 PM »

Well, as my move-in date nears the realization of having to sell this beauty has become a sad and immanent realization.  My buddy and I went for a drive the other day to grab a few shots but I still need to do a full detail before I take the final "for sale" pictures.  Anyway, nothing too crazy but we went out to Tybee b/c the weather wasn't too hot.  One thing to note is how much better the later pictures (ex-8) look compared to the first one.  This is a great example of why its so important to wait until the late evening to take pictures.  There is so much ambient light the camera can't capture detail (even shooting RAW) in all levels.  Not a horrible picture, but not great either.  Another thing I need to work on is the compression portion of my workflow.  These images have been compressed twice b/c I forgot to add the border the first time I exported them and instead of going back to the PSD file I just re-used the already compressed version and added the border.  Number 4 seems to be the worst and 3 seems a bit soft but all things considered they don't look bad considering they are only 100k a piece.

Good shots. I gather you're moving, but what does that have to do with selling the car.  Huh? Unless, of course, it's personal.

A side note - the sign on the produce stand, "Home of the killer tomatoe (sic)" is poignant in light of the recent salmonella scare ...  Tongue

He has stated elsewhere that the M would not be practical at his new location.

Are your fogs just yellow bulbs or HIDs? Any other mods for sale?

Nice shots!

I just found a location I'm going to have to try out at dusk next time I get my car cleaned.  Its a semi circle, with nice, low height light posts, well spread, up against the Delaware river and across the river is the Philly shipyard with several huge vessels across the river.  Should light up well.  Even better is the grass on the other side of the parking spots is uphill so I can get a little downhill perspective if I want.

Yes,
It will be a sad sad day when I see this one go.  I really wish I could keep it but for right now I'd rather put the money towards having a nicer place to live rather than a nice car to drive around while I watch it get destroyed.  Incase you haven't seen yet I'm headed to NYC.  As of right now I'm going to keep my 4Runner to move up there and I'll keep it at my aunt's place upstate in Millbrook.  Its paid for, insurance is super cheap and I'm pretty sure at this point the mods on it are worth more than the truck itself.  Millbrook is only an hour outside the city so its an easy train ride/car ride with a family friend that comes in every week.  The apartments I'm looking at all have garages so if I know I'm going to need it then I can still bring it in (though I might have to take off the roof rack/lift to get it in).  Either way its much better suited for city life.  It has steel all the way around it so I don't have to worry about numbnutz backing/scratching or anything.  Then when it snows my aunt has quite a bit of land so that will be a blast to head out in on weekends.  I considered getting another vehicle (I really like the VW Tiguan) but they wanted $700/m for a 3 year lease when I went in last (the car hadn't been out for a month yet).  I still might do it but I'm going to move up there see how things go before I make that decision.  The cost of having a car in NYC is 3-600 a month just for parking so lets just say its not cheap.  I'm really going to need the thing for it to happen.

Mike,
Thats funny about the tomatoes... didn't notice that.

Chicklet,
No mods for sale yet... I'm going to list it with them for a couple weeks before taking them off.  I really think they help the vehicle and hopefully I can find a buyer that agrees.  The fogs are just overlays from the infamous "bat" over on G35Driver. (see sig).  He is a great guy to deal with if you go that route.  The fogs were done in only a couple mins.  Super easy to do and most importantly you don't have to take the bumper off.  The headlights are good enough for me and I personally think that HIDs in the Fogs is a bad idea unless you put some extra baffle in there to control all the extra light.  That said, I haven't seen a set in person yet but judging from the pictures there is infinitely more glare coming from the fogs than the headlights when HIDs are present.  I know most people here don't agree but its a huge pet peeve of mine.  People put them in their 4Runners all the time and it makes me wish they would sell it and buy a civic.

Hell,
Sounds good!  I look forward to seeing some new shots in this section!
