Lake Tahoe trip
« on: December 26, 2009, 06:30:12 PM »

Some pictures from a short Lake Tahoe trip couple of days ago.  The Sequoia actually did good with all season tires in the midst of blizzard and very slippery road conditions (by CA standards).  I'll definitely try some snow tires next time, I hate chains, hope the snow tires alone will be enough.  One thing I don't like is the beeping and the idiots lights flashing when it slides in all fours.  I couldn't figure out a way to turn them off.  Other than that, absolute comfort with 4 adults and my two kids and lots of gear.  I'm couldn't be happier with it.    Grin

Hope you enjoy the pictures, tell me what you think.

And the car:

Four by four only; on our way back from here the signs said the road was closed, snow tires/chains only.  Slippery but doable...too bad for all the idiot's warnings, everybody could feel the slide... Grin

Nice shots RH.  Looks like you had some big weather changes while you were there.

Thanks guys, we had a great time - first snowfall for my 18month baby - and I feel refreshed, like breathing better.  And yes, the weather changed a lot, but it helped some shots that the car was washed/waxed before the trip in the first place and it was garaged while we were there.  As soon as the snow melted, the car looked clean again somehow!  LOL

Heh, I was skiing Alpine and Squaw on the 22nd-23rd.  Wasn't too bad.  The snow was incredible.  One of the best I've seen in 15 years.  Getting up there was a bit of a bitch though with everyone pulling over to put on their chains.  How stupid are people?  If you get close and know you will need chains pull the F over.  Get off the road and put them on.  The huge traffic jams because some idiot in an accord are retarded.  The highlander with snowtires made it with no issues whatsoever.  It was only lightly snowing on our way up.  I was thinking of going up again this week.

I was at the Heavenly, and it was closed twice due to the conditions.   Yes, the snow was great!  I'm not going again this week, it's too crowded already, and this after Christmas is the worst.  I'll be back end of January perhaps.

That looks like it was a great trip!
That wax sure is doing its job, the thing looks totally clean!  You just forgot some snow on the tires... Wink  The headlight squirter pics are interesting.  Do you have any-ice stuff in your reservoir?  If you do I bet that does wonders on your nice wax job. I have always wanted to head up that way, it sure is gorgeous!

Thanks!  Yes, best thing was to wash and wax the day before the trip.  It only got dirty on the way down, with the melting snow the mud was unavoidable.  No, anti-freezing stuff, if that's what you mean, it filled with that blue goo from the dealer (no idea what's in it).
