Great pics!
Is that a GTR I see in there?? Looks like there was a good turn out! How was the cop situation? I grew up a couple hours from the dragon but the police are really brutal, as they should be considering the number of deaths on that road every year but anyway... Looks like it was a good time! I have always thought of hosting an event in Asheville. Would you guys be interested? I worked at a B&B/Resort place growing up so I could work something out with them for a places to stay. There are dragon like roads in every direction from that place (without the itchy cops). Plus Asheville has some great restaurants, breweries etc.... would any of you guys be up for something like that?
The pics...
Loving the panoramas! What program did you use the merge them? CS3 has some pretty amazing stitching abilities, that was one of the bigger upgrades from CS2. I'm liking the multiple pictures that don't quite line up too. It Has a cool effect that I have yet to really see in car photography. What is the guy doing to his tails with the red Z...? Did he get the LED tails or something? What lens(s) are you using, you have one that goes pretty darn wide. (I'm a sucker for super-wide angle as you guys well know...) I see that your using a minolta, what camera is it? Is there any way to add a polarizer to it? Having a polarizer makes day time pictures (particularly at noon) 100x better. My dad even uses one that he just holds in front of the lens and he has gotten some good results. Not as easy when your driving down the road, but it does work.

I can answer a couple of your questions...
1. NNA (Nissan) brought the GTR.
2. Hell yeah I'd be interested in going to an event in the mountains near here, whether it be Asheville, or somewhere in Northern GA, whatever. Or attending this event in the future.

Yeah, Nissan brought the GT-R and had a little session answering questions about it. I think it got a ticket on the dragon, it led one of the cruises out.
I probably wouldn't make Asheville, only because its 10+ hours for me. ZDayZ is a whole event and since I went with other people and we stay at Fontana Village, is a little easier to coordinate. Some of the guys were talking about making it a whole week trip next time so maybe we could coordinate something. I know last year, the Ferrari guys stayed in Asheville for their event, then just drove out to the dragon for a day.

I used the standard CS3 align/blend. The trick is just taking photos that are evenly spaced and easier to line up.
Red Z was Ryan, he had a burned out tail bulb that we changed out in the parking lot of Fridays on the trip down. All the girls that worked there were absolutely in love with the cars, we probably would've brought a couple with us for the weekend if they were cuter and 18+.
Its a Konica-Minolta 5D. My father had picked it up because he had a film versions in the past and the lenses transferred onto the DLSR model, so he only had to invest in the body. Part of the problem with it being my father's camera that I have basically on semi-permanent borrow is I'm not 100% sure of what each filter / lens is. Off the top of my head, he has a 38-75 standard zoom, the wide angle lens is 17-35 and the telephoto zoom is a 75-300 I think.
Everytime I start thinking about buying my own DSLR, I end up with something else on the car instead.
I actually need to take the camera to get cleaned, you can see a black dot in the upper left corner in most pics, something on the CMOS I think. If I don't pick up my own camera while the Canon rebates are on, I definitely will get him some new filters, a 2x magnifier and a mid-level fisheye for it.
I probably should give it back, but its a fairly robust camera and I use it a lot to keep improving some of the specialty shots. I've only recently started with time lapse night shots and experimenting more with the panoramic merges. I was shiteting bricks doing that shot at the dam too. I had 30 people waiting to see how it turned out, so I was like, hope I don't screw it up!
