Photos of the Rear End
« on: May 31, 2008, 11:41:15 PM »

I took these photos today of the rear of my car.  I applied Zaino Z2/ZFX to the left side of the rear, and Zymol Vintage to the right side.  I used an 85mm lens, trying to angle the shots to show off gloss and reflectivity.  The rear of the car was sticking out of the back of my garage, so it would be in the shade due to the time of day the photos were taken.  The house in the reflection is across the street.  I increased the contrast of these photos using the curves tool in Photoshop.

what is your impression of the comparison?  From the pictures, it appears the right side looks deeper and more reflective.  But its not definitive from my picture assessment

It can be really hard to make judgments from photos.  Photos can be very misleading.  I tried when taking these photos to show off the best of both sides.  Although I realize there are some pretty strong minded Zaino fans, I think the Vintage produced a noticably deeper, wetter look.  I expect the Zaino to have a lot more durability.

I think the entire trunk looks great, but I do agree with 07G35 that the right side seems to have more depth to the color... i'm guaging my assessment purely by the reflections though.

Just curious, what do you guys think of the Meguair's NXT Tech Wax...  (The purple bottle)  I recently clay barred my car with Mother's kit, and it looks phenomenal but I saw this product next to it and it made claims the Mother's wax didn't... (Deeper color, higher gloss, etc...)

This is right after I clayed and waxed it.

I've had that NXT tech for a few years, and I like the stuff.  Haven't used it on my current car (ever) that I recall, but I use it on everyone's car that I detail as a gift because its easy to apply with a PC.  (easier than a paste wax i mean)  I have noted great results from the product.  I used to use it on my Mustang GT (white) and it did a good job.  My dad's Ridgeline, for example, looked really good.  He has that steel blue color and parks under a tree which drops sap on his truck, and I was really surprised by the transformation after just a wash and the NXT tech.  And the fact that its available everywhere (walmart, autozone, target, etc) makes it attractive as well.

P.S. a copy of this thread was moved to the Detailing forum since thats the direction the thread has taken.

P.P.S Rims look great Brian!
