that JP bumper is really only a tad more than 1/2 an inch lower than the stock bumper (no lip)  pretty crazy huh... but yeah, the reason I can't lower a tad more b/c of the front bumper clearance and the exhaust clearance...or lack of... if I lower a tad more....

Nice compositions. Might want to play with either brightness, Black Point, or shadows to get out a little more detail in the darks spots....

Agreed, maybe try a tad of recovery or slightly less exposure and a boost of fill to bring out some of the headlights as well.

My favorite is the last one, makes the bumper look great.

thanks for the helpful hints... now I guess I just need to understand the terms...

"recovery"  how do I do this?

"boost of fill"....?

thanks...  I know the time of day was not optimal...I just had a couple minuets...had the camera, pulled over in an area that I thought may have some spots to shoot and tried to practice....  good thing it did not snow too much that day.... Wink

Teaser: My suggestions are post processing related, and Turbo's main one is aimed at time of shoot. Latter is the best way to go, but the former was to improve what you currently have.

Nice clean car!!  Yeah, the bumper is so low, but spotless!  Do you drive this car at all?? LOL

I think the 2nd picture is out of focus.  Watch out for that!

I like the 1st picture best!

that pic actually makes the bumper look really low, which I like.  In reality it is up there, only 1/2 an inch lower than my stock bumper.  Lucky no major scratches... I do have some on the underside (not visible)

my daily!!! hehehehe

thanks

What software are you using for your raw converter?  ie, what program are you using to open the raw file?

Ah, well once you get a decent raw converter you will understand what I was saying a lot more.  Basically what I was saying (also talking about the post processing) would be to use the recovery which brings down only the highest of highlights down a bit which will darken the entire picture a tad then use the "fill light" slider which adjusts only the mid tones to bring them up a bit to counter act the darkening of the highlights.  This will even out the picture a bit.  Because the intense sun down there you will probably find yourself doing this more times then not.  Especially until you get a polarizer or some sort of filter on your lens to do it for you.  Overall your getting better though, thinking more about composition.  One big suggestion that you can hopefully do with even your current software would be to keep looking for locations and to crop.  The concrete wall in number two is a bit distracting and takes away from the it must suck to be stuck in winter Hawaii shots... Wink  When looking for a location its not just what you can see, but also think about what you should probably hide.

^Yes, but it is very basic.

My recommendations:

Mac: Aperture + PixelMator (or PhotoShop)
PC:   Lightroom + Photoshop

The first program for each is more geared to Digital Asset Management, workflow,  and photo corrections. The second is for major editing. I like to think of one as fine tuning the original photo (exposure, highlights, contrast, vibrancy, saturation, dust, batch edits, etc) and the other as significant picture alterations (changing colors, backgrounds, working with layers, one-off cleaning).

I spend most of my time in Aperture.
