Aren't those extra 6 buttons defeating the purpose of the iDrive in the first place though? One knob to rule them all!

Hehe
It's adding convinience to already cool system
Instead of pushing iDrive wheel and select someone from phone book, i just hit one button
Instead of pushing iDrive wheel and select address from your stored locations, i hit one button to navigate home
Same goes for other stuff
Shortcuts rule!!!

Well I got the menu thing down and the two second thing down. I have to admit it does make it easier but overall? Sorry man but the system still sucks. I'd take the system in the old M45 over it any day and twice on Tuesday. Oh heh, and I figured out why I don't have a "star" button on my steering wheel. It's replaced by an "M" button which does something a looooottt more interesting

Well, 2009 iDrive is whole different story
You now have buttons to get you to each menu
It's now something between Audi and Infiniti systems, just a bit better than both
