Audi S8 by BBI and PPI
« on: December 06, 2008, 10:20:56 PM »

Got a wonderful opporunity to check out a local shop that does some fine work on Luxury exotics.  (Porsche, Merc, BMW, Audi)

Although I probably won't be getting much work done in the performance dept, a custom one-off exhaust and a some exterior work is in the plans.

I'll have new shoes and the Audi lowered by New Years, and hopefully some exterior pieces by PPI.  I'll post as soon as they're on!!!

Some pics of their shop cars...

The S8 looks so lonely back there...

That S is gross... I'm all about clean lines, not outlandish in your face...

Though that splitter on the Black could work... maybe a bit much but could work...

What are you getting for the S8? Cheesy

Just so tough to improve on some vehicles.  The white Merc is pretty bad, the front fender just kills it for me.

Really not liking the CF wheels on the R8 either. Sad

For sure, rims and a drop.  Maybe some European spec parts that delete some of the DOT legal crap. (amber markers is one of them)  Possibly a full exhaust.

Why not...  Because they're ugly, or because they're made of CF?  Because I think they're pretty ugly myself, its the CF that caught my attention.  I wish I would've taken better pictures...  Here's more info on the same car.

Nothing cooler than the park and rev, shift through reverse to drive, then hit gas. Cheesy

Oh and the CF rims are just hideous looking.  I really question if those barrels are true dry carbon, or its just an aesthetic wrap on the mag barrel.  I don't like CF that much in huge swatches on a car in the first place, but even less on rims.  And I'm sure they probably cost a mint too!

Yeah the rims are pretty hideous...  And i'm also not a fan of carbon fiber, and not even in small swatches...  I don't like it AT ALL!

Regarding how much CF...  This is the link to the manufacturer the guy emailed me, (as if I wanted to buy them or something?!?) they're outsourced from another company and not really PPI's.  They're about $8k a piece depending on the width, but the rears on the Audi R8 in these pics are 10.5" and they weigh 17.4 lbs.

Yeah, I saw the weight from the PPI link.  For the cost of them, I'd rather just get a set of TE37's or something similar that weighs 20 lbs or so and is a fraction of the cost.  I'm still leery of how resistant the CF is myself, at least on a street vehicle. :\
