I think they do.  It's just that nobody has hacked the CAN bus yet.  All I can do is interface the carputer with the OBDII jack, but that's like using a computer serial port, and not the RJ11 connector.

With BMW, Audi and Mercedes, you can tell the car to open the trunk, turn on left headlight only, close the door, open/close sunroof, you can control the air conditioner, read and adjust desired temp, you can even remotely turn off your car, plot it's location by gps and use your carputer as a car alarm! (too bad it's easy to disconnect though, so it's not really used that way unless it's well hidden).

To do that with Infiniti/Nissa, I believe you'd need something like this:

http://usbee.com/busbee.jpg

I may want to tackle this someday, but I have no background in electronics, which makes it look like very tedious looking enterprise.  I suppose hackers would love to do that, if enough of them bought Infinitis.  Apparently, until now they want to be seen driving old BMW's, Mercedes and Audis...

Thats about what they're going to be doing.  So the things I have planned is being able to turn on just the fogs, turn off the always on daytime driving lights, disable the seatbelt warning beep (dash display will still light up), and roll up/down the windows via the key fob (hold down unlock for down, hold down lock for up).

It'll be awesome if they DID have something for the japanese cars...  but i haven't heard much.  From what the guy at the shop tells me, VAG-COM stuff is published quite frequently across the pond. (Germany)

To do that with Infiniti/Nissa, I believe you'd need something like this:

http://usbee.com/busbee.jpg

http://usbee.com/busbee.html

Results data like this:

Monitored data is written in comma delimited text format and can be imported directly into Excel, Word or other processing programs.  Below is a sample of a few 1-Wire transfers showing the timestamps (in seconds) of each of the transfers followed by the packet data in Hex.

0.074215,33,AD,8F,5C,01,10,30,10,4F,
0.090130,33,AD,8F,5C,01,10,30,10,4F,
0.106045,33,AD,8F,5C,01,10,30,10,4F,
0.121959,33,AD,8F,5C,01,10,30,10,4F,

So suppose you press a button to open the right front window: the bus controller changes like this:

0.150000,33,AD,8F,5C,01,10,30,10,5F,

So if a computer can reproduce that data, it can change the windows status without anybody actually there pressing the button.

And so on and so forth.

I may want to tackle this someday, but I have no background in electronics, which makes it look like very tedious looking enterprise.  I suppose hackers would love to do that, if enough of them bought Infinitis.  Apparently, until now they want to be seen driving old BMW's, Mercedes and Audis...

Nice find.. very tempting. Wonder how bad i could screw my car up with this. Smiley

Crazy....?!?!?!

The google ad up in the corner just showed a link to this place called oempl.us in Aliso Viejo.  Supposedly, BBI is sourcing their parts from them I think.

Google is scary good...

Just as an update...

I finally got the car lowered and rims are on their way... (6-8 weeks!!!)  I don't have any recent pics so i'll have to take them for you.

Rims are the Work Rezax Forged Premium
Front 21" x 9 +38
Rear 21" x 10 +34

Can't wait, the anticipation is killing me!
