As I understand it, "ECO" is for "economical".  The vehicle will change shift points to allow for maximum amount of MPG's for city driving.  Don't know if this is true but it is what I was told.

I think your right, Looks like it says snow to the left of eco...

After all this work, you would think they would have time to do a new shifter plate..??

And while nice for the UBERAudiophile, haveing a 32band eq in a car makes no sense to me.  MAYBE in an Audi 8 with the HK system but even then, its a bit over the top.  I can see it now... Oh sorry for rear-ending you... the 5k range was killing me in the song I was playing and I just couldn't handle it so I was looking down to change it when I...  You get the picture.  I think we are going to come to a time where there are just too many options on a car.  The key is to make sure they make it great out of the box and add options.  Not something like the M5/6 where you have to choose power etc etc etc...  the 400hp mode doesn't save any fuel either... just limits the top end according to my uncle.

Okay, that was funny, but nobody I know who has a 32 band eq actually use it on a regular basis.  It's not live music, so it's pretty much compressed and predictable anyway.  It's just a set and forget thing.  Once the perfect sound is dialed in, you won't have to constantly reset everything.

If it's digitally implemented, first, there's not much cost difference between an 8, 16 or a 32 band, secondly, you can have memory settings for your tastes (xm radio, mp3, flac, dvd-audio, bassy, flat, rock, etc. also for each sound level, which affects perception a lot), which is very nice.

Again, you don't need to show this to every user.  Just bury it somewhere and let the power users enjoy it!

I want to love this car, I really do.. but it looks like a disaster to me. The FX at least followed the G's audio/HVAC/etc control layout, which I think is very intuitive. The new buttons spewed everywhere on the M are just not doing it for me.. Sad

The whole center stack layout, from the shifter up to the LCD, reminds me of the BMW X5 I was driving. That's not a good thing. Sad

Going to agree with Oz.  Looks like my beloved M45 got "maxima"ized.

Well it could be a case of them not changing their design enough.  Since pretty much the entire Nissan line now digs into the Infiniti interior parts bin, its going to take a bit more to distinguish the two.  That said, everywhere else in the world, there is no Infiniti.  I don't think its that the M is turning into the Max, its quite literally the other way around.  Now we are used to having Infiniti (particularly the M) take it to the next level which each new model because quite frankly it did that in 06.
