2002 LS 430
« on: September 02, 2009, 10:17:10 PM »

2002 LS 430, 64000 miles, Silver(ish) exterior, black interior.. loaded with every optional ("Ultra Luxury package")

So here it is.. still not 100% sure if it's going to stay or not, but I think it will.. I know it's not stunning to look at, but the car is a GREAT cruiser... if I had the spare dough i'd actually like to have one to use for travel.

Nothing amazingly exciting given today's technology, but based on what was available "all the way back" in 2002.. the car was almost a technological marvel.

Cooled and heated seats!

IMG_0634 (Custom).JPG

Can't quite figure out why they did this one..
IMG_0636 (Custom).JPG

Top two left = air suspension settings,
Bottom row = Rear shade, traction (duh), Rear "return to normal" button, headlamp washers

IMG_0637 (Custom).JPG

Folding mirrors + parking sensors + world's largest coin tray (really great position for a smash-and-grab, honestly)

IMG_0638 (Custom).JPG

IMG_0639 (Custom).JPG

Roomy back seat..

IMG_0640 (Custom).JPG

Single memory button for rear seats... and manual rear shades

IMG_0642 (Custom).JPG

Rear "center console" (folds down as arm wrest)... both seats recline, and have about 10 massage settings, + heat.. and power headrests, 3rd zone (rear) a/c control with air purifier (it has its own HUGE filter in the trunk, kind of funny)

IMG_0643 (Custom).JPG

Apparently they call these things "cup holders"...

IMG_0649 (Custom).JPG

Rear vents in roof.. no idea how they squeeze a functional duct up there

IMG_0650 (Custom).JPG

AIR CONDITIONED 6 pack can holder. Seriously. By far the most entertaining part of the car. Smiley

Nice car.  It looks so comfy, lol.  The interior of the LS might be nicer
than the M's interior.   Grin

It is.. I had that discussion with someone. Mind you, they are two completely different cars. I loved my M, but I really like the LS. It's a great car to just be comfortable and drive in. Definitely 99.9% luxury and .1% sport, though.. whereas the M was more of a 50/50 split. The air suspension is a nice touch which adds a hint of sportyness to the ride, though.

For some reason I can't seem to make it corner like the F, however? Wink

The passenger seat movement is for someone in the back to move it forward.  This is an executive car, that was designed to be driven in, not to drive yourself (not that it can't be done!)  After living in the city I now appreciate riding in cars as much as I do driving them.  All the Town Cars have adjustments for the passenger seat in the center arm rest.

As for interior vs the M... I kind-of agree on the black lexus interiors but their lighter colors are not NEARLY  as appealing (don't know as much about the current stuff).  They do however use softer leather.  I'm not a fan of wood at all so I haven't really gone down that road.  Hell, it took me 4 months to find a GS430 WITHOUT the wood steering wheel.  Just to have it bought out from under me that day.  But, that is what lead me to the Infiniti dealership...

^^How did you find a GS430 without a wood steering wheel?
I don't think I've ever seen one without wood steering wheels.   Smiley

Ditto that.. I asked them if I could special order one w/o a wood wheel and they said no. I said 'bye'. Smiley

Thanks for the pics, it looks really nice!  I could definitely buy one too!  Love all the buttons!  I like the wood too, I don't why the hate with wood. I like it.

that is another benefit of Lexus... Tom's Racing makes a entire brace, strut, suspension system for the LS430.... I really wish something like that could be made for the M.  While I would agree that all the suspension parts on the LS would not make it a IS-F, I would bet that it would be a heap more fun to drive.... at least you have the option....

Update Oz, how do you like this beautiful car after driving it more?
You've got me thinking about trading my Ranger and Civic
for a Lexus GS300 now.   Grin
